Is it a mutation that came with our abstract reasoning? If we choose not to believe in God, or worship God; then what or who do we worship? Does everyone worship?

It seems every society across the globe, regardless of how remote or how small, worships or has worshiped a supreme being.

Please list the things or people you worship?
Or, are some of us without that mutation called hero-worship?

I don't think so. If we do not worship God then I suppose we worship ourselves, beauty, others, monetary things, drugs, the most recent fad, things we love, money, some worship the devil or other gods.
I suppose everyone does worship some thing at some time in their lives even if it is not God.
My original answer was going to be that I know some people that don't worship. I would have meant they don't worship God. I revised my answer because I think some people worship other things as I mention above.

I'll answer your question with a question first.
If a child who is raised (from birth) in an atheist commune smashes their finger in a door, will it scream out "God!!!", "Jesus Christ", etc.? If yes, then doesn't this serve as evidence of an instinctual response to cry out for help from "God" or "Jesus"? All the other commune members would not be talking about the Bible or God so how would the child be exposed to these words? It's a question that has perplexed me from some time.
I think all people worship something at least in part. Television, the internet, money, hate, celebrities, drugs, random acts of kindness... or at least a strong sense of devotion to such.
The word worship is defined by Meriam-Webster as to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.

We are born to worship our Creator! All of us have inborn higher qualities that the animals do not have. For example, the ability to appreciate justice, mercy, honesty, etc.. These qualities reflect on the God that created us because we were created in His image. God also made us free to worship Him or not . He wants us to come to Him of our own free will. The Bible says in the book of Exodus 15:2: "He is my God and I will praise him" It is natural for us to give God, our Father praise and want to worship him. It is built into everyone of us, whether we admit it or not.

Human beings are not born preprogrammed into any belief system. Knowledge of any particular one is gained through the family unit and it becomes indoctrinated from there. Some continue on and some, like myself, leave and choose not to worship at all. It all boils down to personal choice in the end.

i don't think of we are born with any paticular thought, so I believe you there Holden. yet i don't think of we are brainwashed except have been component of a cult. each and every custom has a tendency to share similair ideals, yet those days interior the twenty first century we are in a position to commonly make our very own judgements, in spite of the actuality that i think of the belief of a few non secular thought could nicely be effective (not neccesary, in simple terms effective) in instilling morals into babies. Having stated all of this i replaced into raised Catholic, yet as an grownup i don't stick to any faith, i in my view see faith as a enterprise and the muse of maximum wars, yet i rigidity it somewhat is my own, uneducated view and that i don't propose to criticise anyones ideals, values or studies.

god create us, just for one reason: to worship him.
if we choose to not believe in god: we will loose god.
but if choose to believe in god: it give us power to worship the only power who deserve to be worshiped.
god exist, even when non believers dont believe in god.
atheist who dont believe in god, worship god too, and they dont know it. when they see beauty flower, they will say how much beauty, but since they wanted to bel blinde, they didnt know that god reflect his beauty in a flower, and this is possible and easy for god.
god is beauty,
god is pretty smell
god is pretty fact
god is pretty song
god is all power
god is every thing
god is kindest person
all beauty in this world should be worshiped. ang when worship any beauty in this world, we worship god.

We are born as atheists. Many are then indoctrinated into the faith of the parents (which is further determined by the region in which they live). The CHOICE comes later when and if the child begins to think for themselves. A child can either take a good, hard, critical look at their long-imposed faith and find that they voluntarily agree with it, or find that they don't.
That, or they never question it and remain the believer that their parents molded them into.

No. But there is an inherent need to understand the world around us. So, religion developed to try to explain those things.
Now that science has explained most of everything, religion is no longer needed.
