I have been using Sonic since it came with my new PC. But recently, I am having trouble with it. Also, it is very slow in terms of burning disks.
Can someone suggest me any solution?

I just bought an external DVD burner that even does double layer (9.5 GB) DVDs from Office Depot. It is a Memorex brand that will read/write up to 56x. 8X on regular DVD and 4X on dual layer DVDs. It came with NERO 6.0 software that so far, seems to work pretty good. The drive is USB 1.1, 2.0 and Firewire compatible and costs $80 after $10 instant rebate, plus I have a rebate form for $20, making final pre-tax cost $60.

As far as slow, I thought so at first. It took 15 minutes to burn a 6 GB DVD, but then thought, that is 9 or 10 CDs.....how long does it take to burn 10 CDs???

Sometimes, the suggestion is buy new hardware and take advantage of the free software that comes with it.
