I am actually selling pretty much everything, I will hit PDX with a bag of clothes, a laptop, a camera, ipod and a pair of sneakers. Also I will have a handful of broken dreams, and a pocket full of already spent cash...

I'm moving to Portland in a few months so I've done a little bit of research.

The public transit in the area is excellent. A monthly bus/streetcar/light rail pass costs $74.

For the others you might want to look into the Dirt Cheap guide to Portland.

So Cal is really expensive compared to Portland, so you better have a lotta cash. As far as public trans it pretty much doesn't exist out here. Get a Car or you will never want to leave your house.

Depending on where in So Cal avg rent for a 1 bedroom apt is around 1200-1400 now adays. So dont say I didn't warn you.

As for things to do, lotta parties, lotta beach, and lotta attractive ppl from the opposite sex.

Your first respondent must have been stoned-anyway, how much moving to Portland would cost you totally depends on how much stuff you have-which you didn't say.
