I think small dogs stop growing between 9-12 months old... so your doggy may get to 6-7 pounds and stop growing... I guess the only way he would weigh more is if he got chubbier =) but make sure he stays in the healthy weight range =)

They are usually full grown at about a year, and they can weigh
anywhere from 4 to 8 pounds.

My maltese (zoe) is about 10 lbs and she is 6 years old. She hit that weight at about a year. Be careful though! She does not look or feel overweight and when she hit 11 lbs the dr said she should lose weight. She doesn't even eat that much and all she does is runs around.

Small dogs are for sure finished growing at one year of age, while large dogs are finished growing at two years, and giant dogs may take as long as three years. A maltese could be finished growing at around 10 months of age, but I would say for sure at 12 months. Your pup might have a little bit of growing yet to do.
