About a few weeks ago i was cutting my wrists and my mom and dad found out and i told them that i would quit. I want to, but i dont know what to do. If you had this problem before please tell me how you stoped wanting to.

Ur lucky ur parents didnt send you away to a behavorial health center (a.k.a cutter rehab) i was sent there it sucked. What made me wanna stop is cause if i get caught again i get sent away to a long time cutter rehab place. Ive already ****** up my family bad enough. My mom hates me, and i lost some freinds cause of it. But when all that **** happened it jsut made me wanna do it even more, the main reason why i stopped was cause i realized i was dumb and i was getting me no where, it just makes things worse. Plus it dosent only hurt you it hurts the people around you. So no matter what people say on here its not gonna help you. You just need to wake up and realize what your doing/ and what you have done to your family and freinds

It took me a year to stop wanting to do it.
I started cause I wanted to be able to feel again.
My teacher was able to talk sense into me in the end.
I'm so thankful she did cause I was cutting twice a day for months.
I have to see a doctor and a councellor, to find out what's going on.
I would definately say you should quit right now !
Before it becomes an addiction and you don't want to stop.
Cutting isn't the answer.
If you want the same feeling hold a ice cube on your wrist and draw a mark on your arm with a red felt-tip pen.`
Do sports, to get your adrenlin going, adrenlin rushes to the cut - making you feel better.
Please get help, you don't want to be where I'm at.

Cutting is a symptom of another problem. Many people make the mistake of thinking that if they can stop cutting everything will be fine. The first step towards turning things around is recognizing what is really going on. Not everyone can do that by themselves, I needed a lot of help. That help can come in the form of therapy, support groups, clergy, school counselors, etc.

Why do you cut? Who can you talk to honestly? Start there.

And please know you are not alone no matter how isolated you feel.

There IS help. And it's simple. Naltrexone (aka dapade, Revia, other names) has been known to stop the "high" that cutters derive from the pain of cutting.

I'm sure your parents won't mind getting you a good shrink (if they're honest, they'll probably admit to having seen, or having wanted to see, one themselves). Almost everyone I know has an M.D. (melon doc).

When you cut yourself, your body releases natural pain-killing endorphins. In your case, as in the case of all cutters, it's an "overdose" of sorts. So it's d@mned hard to stop. It feels too good.

Cutters testify that when they cut after taking Naltrexone, it f*c*ing HURTS...and that's all, nothing else. No high. So they just quit.

Further, there's nothing to be ashamed of. Every one I know needs a shrink, right? Why? Because we live in an unnatural world. Machines have replaced "strong backs" and "dexterous hands" so people are forced to spend 15 years in school just to work at McDonald's.

Can you say, "STRESS"?

In addition to meds, you might try working on a farm or ranch during the growing season. Plenty of corn-belt farmers are sympathetic to city-slickers and our plight.

A few years ago all I could think about was What is the fastest way to kill myself and What is the slowest way? I never actually tried to cut my wrist, but I have tried killing myself. How I stopped trying and thinking about doing this was 'Think of your family, everyone you know; How would they feel after you did this and what would they do once you were gone. You may think people hate you and may think your a nobody, but trust me if these people can say one word to you they know your there. They will miss you if you were gone and they would not only be mad at themselves they would be mad at the one person who could have stopped you. Which is WHO?!!!!

Hi sweety,
So many girls and some boys are cutting these days. You are not alone. People cut because its a way to feel some pain because they cant deal with some other pain in their lives that occured before. You must see a counselor or your Psych as soon as you can to help you figure out how to stop. Believe me sweety, you can stop but you do need professional help.

Cutting is one of the many possible symptoms for depression. It probably isn't something you can stop on your own. You need to talk to someone about it like your school counselor or nurse. If you go to church, your pastor or youth leader should be able to help you or get you the help you need.

I suffered from clinical depression for years and while I never cut myself, I have an idea of what you're going through. I have also counseled youth who suffer from depression. The best thing you can do is to get some help. Depression isn't something you can usually deal with by yourself.

cover up the area u do it. now when u get stressed take a soft ball like a tennis ball and through it against the wall as hard as you can it makes a satiflying thwak and feels so good. when ur bored and want to cut do something call ur firens, rad a book go online. also keep no sharp objecs near by they are to tempting.

My boyfriend used to do it to relieve stress because his original outlet was playing football where he got out all his aggression on the field. He can't anymore due to his knee being blown out, but I had to talk him into talking out his frustration. Not easy for someone who was raised in a home where you just don't talk about things! But babysteps.

Just walk out the door and don't stop till you reach the convenience store, then walk back. Getting out of your enclosed surroundings helps a ton; gets rid of the feeling of entrapment. I used to go on lengthy smoking breaks just for the sake of getting away my desk at work.
