To the Muslims a child is a trust from Allah (SWT) in the hands of the parents. The heart of a child can be compared to a fine and clean slate without any writing on it. Hence the child could be developed into any type of human being depending on what type of environment he or she is exposed to. If a child is educated in the traditions of goodness including the Noble Qur'an and the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAS), he or she will surely follow the truth when grown up and will attain health, happiness, and success both in this world and the hereafter. The reaching of great heights by the child gives the greatest pleasure both to the parents and the teachers. Even the community and the nation share in the child's achievements. On the other hand, lack of proper education destroys the bright future of the child. The blame and responsibility for this unpleasant and sad deed has to be shared both by the parents and the teachers, as well as the community and the nation. Therefore parenting is not any easy task. In some societies people literally spit on the faces of the parents whose children have gone astray. Right from the beginning parents should impart good conduct to their children and discourage them from bad company. Children should be taught to exercise control in self-adornment, extremes of pleasure and comfort.

I believe the most powerful way to convince children of anything is by example. Show your happiness due to your own dedication and a child will be more apt to follow. Give as much positive reinforcement to children in their endeavors. Children are always watching the actions of adults and are aware of how we interact with others. Keep your best attitude forward at all times and you'll be amazed how this will lead children.

It's not a waste to live in the hear and now. Life is a gift. Don't convince your children, let them choose. Children should know the teachings of all religions.

YOu have a wonderful question. The most important part is to first be a practising Muslim yourself. It should be not only in terms of ritual but morals also. Try to make them appreciate the simple things of life. It is harder in today's materialistic world. Tell them to be thankful for what they have. Let them know that there are children in this world in pain. Whenever they do something explain them the words like Alhamdullilah, Subhanallah. Inshallah. Explain them the benefits of Islam. DOnt try scaring them. Instead talk about the rewards and happiness that come out of Islam. Explain them the purpose of our religion. Make them used to reading their prayers on time. Take time to talk the kids about the Islamic things. Ramadan is a good time to teach them. If they are too young to fast, explain them why we fast. Whenever you go to donate items and money take them with you. Make them realize what other things are important in Ramadan. Take them to the masjid often where they meet other children coming there. When they see more kids of their age, they will know that they are not the only ones. That way when they grow up, they will be coming to the Masjid themselves. Try not to make too addictive of games. If they at least 10 years or more see if you can take them to Umrah. Make them love Allah. It should be a religion that they fall in love with. Not a religion that is imposed by us. They are our future. Making them closer to Allah will go for a better tommorow.

To teach the children the only attributes of Allah/God that we can practice and do here on earth..
To teach them the Spirit of good to others
To teach the children to have fair dealing with all we embrace or meet while on earth = righteousness
To teach the children the value of truth and to worship and respect truth on earth is to worship Allah/God.
To teach the children to stand against evil towards others.
To teach long suffering, humility in trials, tribulations, and temptations...
To teach and do the above is of all the law and prophets..
and is more then to read all of all the books on religions of the world...
The simple above, to: is a life time study and a true dedicatioin to Allah/God

Hopefully children will be smart enough to not dedicate themselves to wasting their lives preparing for a hypothetical afterlife when there is a life to be lived in the here and now. Note that by "living" I am not speaking of outrageous or amoral behavior. I am referring instead to appriciating and enjoying the life that they have instead of living in fear of being condemned by an imaginary sky daddy and his self-appointed "morality police".

I suspect the desire to "make" them do it is the main deterant. As a child, I hated going to the Catholic Church and sunday school, because I was forced. But now, I'm older, and am able to pursue it at my leisure and find it extremely interesting.
I think the best way to foster interest is to offer it as an option, and be sure not to force it down their throats.

You don't need to convence them, they follow the grown up examples, and if u r dedicating urself to Allah, ur child will follow ur good example, but if u r not how do u expect to "make" little one do something that for him is not familiar, and has not seen his family doing it before?

you dont "make" them do anything. As making them will only drive them away.
first you have to establish a good relationship with them and then introduce them to certain ideas, then they will start asking questions to learn more themselves. this builds a desire to learn.
it's all in the way they are nurtured from the beginning

> How do we convince more children to dedicate themselves to Allah?
One way that has worked extremely well in the past, with adults as well as with children, is to put a sword to their throats and offer them a wonderful way that they can discover life.
