you'll want to cancel out yellow tones, so you want to use a toner with violet undertones to achieve that more platinum look, you'll want a semi or demi permanent light blond

No, you are missing the point here -- again. A toner is only a tint that is used on bleached hair. It is usually very pale and delicate tones, and doesn't have a lot of colour pigment in it. That is why it is only used on bleached hair. Any other hair has too much of the natural colour to compete with it, and the toner won't be seen much. So you didn't bleach your hair properly if you got orange. Yes, when you lighten dark brown hair, you get orange. But you need to lighten it further until you get it light yellow, to get rid of the orange. Then you put the pale delicate blonde colour you want (and there are many, many different kinds of "blonde" colours). If you are doing this yourself, you probably are not using a real bleach, but only a partial light tint. That is guaranteed to make your hair orange. Perhaps you should have this done professionally -- they have the correct products and the skill to be able to get it light enough, and evenly. After that, you can use a tint that is the blonde you want.... all the way from whites to deep dark blonde. When you get the dark roots, it's time to get a retouch. You would only bleach the regrowth as before, and apply the toner to the new growth. You would never bleach hair that is already bleached... that is how you get breakage.

I agree with everything everyone has said here except maybe products, but i have had my hair bleached now for so long hey i dont think i could risk any more stress. Words of wisdom here i would honestly go to a salon and get it professionaly done, it would save your hair a whole lot less stress and they know what they are doing! With that over if you really want to experiment yourself becareful about toning your hair, you really need to give yourself two good shampoos before you start applying the toner and maybe even a protein treatment but the shampoos are the most important otherwise the toner may not set evenly. Then using any blonde toning chemicals will work try buying from a place where you know they sell bulky hairdressing items. Then section your hair off and apply it evenly after a shampoo. And watch the leave in time on your hair as bleaching and lightening hair strips away your natural hair cuticle leaving it damaged, messes could happen. But goodluck. Also having a shampoo and conditioner and protein treatment with a toner in it already is useful when you want to keep your hair looking yellow-free.

ok well in order to get it platinum you need to make sure you bleach your hair to get it to the lightest yellow as possible. Dont over bleach your hair. There is a toner I use made by wella the name of the color is white lady. it is the best. you can get this at a beaty supply such as sally's. This particular toner has a violet undertone so it will take all the yellow out of your hair . When you put it on your blonde your hair will be purple DONT WORRY its supposed to do that just make sure you wash your hair really good after applying it. I believe it is a permanant toner. Good Luck

if you ge tit done at a salon that uses l'oreal then it woud be a po1 or if you want to do it at home use the l'oreal colour expert shampoo( in a silver bottle and purple in colour) it gives a relly good ash tonre tom your hair in just a couple of washes. you can get it at regis salons. i use it rather than the actual colour toner as it is kinder to the hair!!!

well my hair has been bleached out for a couple of years now and to be honest...my hair is weird sometimes when i do my roots, the bleach will turn it to a light yellowish color but other times not. when i asked my sister what to do about it (she is a professional cosmetologist) she said to just use a shampoo that says silver on it. the color of the shampoo is going to be blue but dont worry its supposed to be that color and it evens out your color and takes out the yellow. and not to worry...you dont have to spend alot of money on it and you can get it in any store like your local grocery store! just remember to look for the word silver and that the color is blue.
