a read a poll that new brunswick would be the only province to vote for bush if canada was part of the states. so are thye maritimes socially right wing? do they only vote liberal because they are poor and need the welfare programs?

I grew up in the maritimes and your question is extremely insulting to the people that live there

What the?! Where are you getting this? I must admit, the maritimes are poorer compared to money-raking provinces such as Ontario,Quebec and Alberta but in no way are we dirt poor and all rely on government assistance. The only reason we vote liberal is because we just think that liberal MPs have more common sense than the conservative ones

Everyone votes for different reasons. I personally vote for the party who has an agenda similar to my own. (and it's neither Conservative nor Liberal) And not everyone in the maritimes is poor, and needs welfare programs, it is unfortunately an awful sterotype those of us on the East Coast have a hard time shedding.

They vote liberal because the Liberal's buy their votes by giving them special EI provisions that aren't avalable in other provinces
