Most people would say they are Christian, but they are only on sundays. of the entire christian population, about 2/ 5 are actual Christains. those " jerks" are probably those who falsly cloak themselves under a christian title. they give christains a bad name.

Some Christians are jerks because Christians aren't perfect but growing, and then some are really Christians.
As far as intolerant, there are things to be tolerant about such as honest mistakes. There are things to be intolerant such as sinful actions not the person themselves.
We live in society where many believe we should tolerate everything. That is not what God teaches.

Well, if by intolerant, you mean that nobody is ever supposed to mention the words "God" or "salvation" or "Jesus" around you, then I can tell you what the problem is. I'm a Christian, and I don't want to see anybody go to Hell, especially when I can tell you how to be saved by believing in Jesus Christ's atoning death on the Cross.
I also believe that He is the only Way, the only Truth, and the only Life, and no one comes to the Father except through Him. If that makes me intolerant, that's just how it is.
I'm not going to 'shove religion down people's throats,' as folks are fond of calling it, but I'm also not going to deny what I believe, either.

Because there are so many jerks on the planet! The question though should be ... How much of a jerk would these people be without Jesus?

Many Christians go through an indoctrination process where they are trained to reject the rest of society because Satan is in control of it. They believe that the rest of the world are sinners, and they can't help showing it sometimes.

In what ways are we jerks that you aren't? We actually have a basis for our beliefs, and a Bible to back it (which, by the way, has yet to be disproven to me). You non-christians have nothing, and just don't like it when you are proven to be wrong or spineless.
