I use to use celexa and now use lexapro-don't use alcohol with anti-depressants. Alcohol is a depressant, so you're using two drugs that will cancel each other out. Also, it's always risky to mix prescription drugs with any type of alcohol. It can send you on a bad, sometimes permanent trip. If you have a drinking problem or drinking is a serious part of your social life, I'd let your doctor know, and find another way to deal with the depression or anxiety until you get control of the use of your alcohol. That's what I did.

Good luck!

I took celexa for a long time, and i drank while taking it. I didn't experience any problems with it, but just be careful and aware of any side effects.

You shouldn't. Alcohol will intensify/alter the affects of many medications, and celexa is one that you definately should not mix with alcohol.
