I have had a cough for 2 months and my doctor said that thats what it is, a cough. My dad tells me its because i drink cold milk right out of the fridge and that it hurts my immune system. I dont believe him because i have been drinking cold milk for a long time. And he thinks that drinking adn eating warm stuff will improve my immune system and get rid of my cold. So can someone tell me if this is true or not?

No, cold liquids cannot hurt your immune system. What they do do, however, is boost your metabolism and burn more calories than warm liquids. This is because your body has to exert extra energy to bring the liquids to room temperature. Cold liquids are quite good for your body, though if you have sensitive teeth, you might prefer to drink through a straw.

Your doctor is the one who's studied medicine and the human body, not your father, so he's probably right. Cold drinks don'r hurt the immune system. However, it doesn't hurt to humor your father and do what he says just to keep him happy. Certainly following his advice can't hurt your immune system either, so might as well do it to get him to stop nagging you!
