We'll let the bible decide the answer to that:

1 Corinthians chapter 14:

As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

Ephesians 5:22-24

"Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."

1 Peter 3:7

"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."

Unless God became a feminist in the early 1920's then he still feels the same way now.

It is necessary to look for any examples of women preachers in the Bible. In all the examples of people in the Bible the only preachers we see are men (the apostles were all men, the requirements for elders/bishops in Timothy 3:1 tells us if a MAN desires the position. 3:2 says "the husband of one wife." verse 11 shows the same for deacons.) If God had intended for women to be preachers or elders He would have started it. The truth is woman comes from man not the other way around. While women can be teachers and can correct people (such as Priscilla teaching Apollo) they cannot be preachers, unless there are only women and children present. It is also important to realize that there were women in positions of power in that time frame (Anna the prophetess from Luke 2:36)(Deborah, in Judges 4), so you can't blame the culture for the absense of women preachers or elders. While I believe women have the right to vote and to be in many ways equal to men, they have no place in the leadership positions of the church, which God set up.

I think you have to realize back when these scriptures took place the culture of the day was that the women did remain silent in fact in the same area today it probably is the same. My Pastor is doing a series of hero's in the Bible and even in the Old Testament God used women. Esther is one example Debra another. Also I have been reading in the Bible that their were more than !2 disciples and some were women. Peter was married. I was raised in the Quaker Church that all are equal I have had two Women Pastors and I think they were great. One was a Husband & Wife team. As long as they teach the Word Of God Correctly I think it is ok. I have been a Sunday School teacher for over 20 years I am a Woman.

Women pastors have nothing to do with equality. It has to do with their God given roles. There are many great women in our churches today and I thank god for them. Some are even smarter than some men but that does not change gods word. Women are the most precious things God has put on this earth. I love them and respect them but pastors, NO

because of fact even the church homes are beginning up to sense the rigidity of treating women persons like 2d type voters. because it is going to become clearer to those that the 'church regulation' replaced into in all probability in line with patriarchal regulations somewhat than 'ordained by potential of God', they're reinterpreting the 'spirit' somewhat than the 'letter' of the regulation. a number of the extra fundamentalist religions already see the slippery slope - as quickly as you admit that the Bible won't be the 'literal inspired be attentive to God', then all issues substitute into situation to reinterpretation. And look what happens... 38000 diverse Christian denominations... and counting... > Jimmer <

Good Question. Do you know in the book of genesis, God created the women to be a helper of her husband. Therefore, the husbands always has the authority to make final decsions. I think it is more of a womens role to be silent and not take leadership roles as pastors in churches.

1 Timothy 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. 15 Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

I agree, and I like that you quoted scripture as well. Women are to use their gifts to serve the Lord, but there are many other ways that to become a preacher.

sorry, but I believe you are taking this out of context. If you read the KJV, it says law, not Law. When a common noun is capitalized in the Bible, it is of God. This law is of man, and if it was disobeyed, especially in a male-dominated society, those visitting the church, or some mis-concepted believers themselves, would cause a riot.

other manuscripts refer to this as an act of a woman excersizing authority over a man who wishes to speak, which was not proper.

if there are prophetesses, let them prophesy. If there are pastors, let them teach. I don't think God has a problem with a female pastor, as long as she is living righteously and teaches correctly, just as any pastor should.

So all christians who believe the Bible, put the Bible above their nations laws?

That makes them A - discriminatory and against human rights and B - Lawbreakers.

Time to call the cops I think.

And you people who think a woman's place is in the home - you are SICK!!!!
