Let's see, your religion doesn't require it, no medical organization in the world recomends it, and more and more people are choosing against it, so socially it is not an issue anymore.
It is very painful both during and in the recovery period. Complications happen (bleeding, infection, surgical error and rarely death) And studies have shown circumcision is damaging sexually. It is not cleaner, better looking or healthier in any way.
I would say this is one tradition that is ready to be retired. Here is some info for you if you need it:
Here is a great article that dispells any myths surrounding male circumcision:
http://www.mothering.com/articles/new_ba...
Here is how it is done:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...
No medical organization in the world recomends infant circumcision, many speak against it and some statements have equated it to mutilation.

Besides, rates are down all over North America:

So why put your baby through all that pain and risk complications like these:

For no other reason than to look like Daddy?
Our sons don't match their Dad and neither have noticed yet.
Good luck to you!

removing of the foreskin that shroud the glans of the penis and it rather is achieved in Judaism. It replaced into a demonstration of the covenant and an id of adult men who belong to Israel. it rather is achieved as a non secular prepare on Jewish 8 day old toddlers. This by the variety is while nutrition ok which aids blood clotting is intense interior the the infant's blood. yet another staggering Bible fact. nevertheless Christianity no longer demands operation on the male genital the non secular Jews of Judaism have been appearing circumcision for the reason that Abraham replaced into given the covenant.

NO NO NO NO NO!!!!!
Circumcision is the amputation of a functional body part, not to mention one that is highly enervated. It is medically UNNECESSARY! No CREDIBLE medical establishment in the WORLD (including the American Academy of Pediatrics) endorses routine infant circumcision.
It is a painful procedure, still often done w/o anesthetic. There are cases of irreversibe penile damage that happen every day. As w/ any surgery, there are risks.
There is an enormous amount of MISINFORMATION about circumcision. Circumcised penises are NOT cleaner than intact penises. Circumcision does NOT reduce the risk of AIDS 60%...a debatable study in Africa showed a 50-60% reduction in NEW cases of HIV w/ circumcision...a HUGE difference. Most of the Western world does NOT circumcise and there are NOT worldwide problems w/ urinary tract infections. A large percentage of American males are circ'd, but our rates of STDs are HIGHER than Europe...and Europeans are usually INTACT.
If you are not religious or accept the concept of evolution w/in your faith, ask yourself why a body part would have evolved on MOST MAMMALS if it was defective or deletrious to the health?
If you are religious, ask yourself why God would have designed such a faulty body part. Is God prone to mistakes? The Old Testament (as I understand it from Jewish friends) called for circumcision (and a bris is VERY different from a routine infant circ as done by regular doc) as a symbol of the covenant between God and man. The Christian faith understands this symbol to be unnecessary in light of Jesus' coming, death and resurrection. There are at least 2 NT passages that I know of where circumcision is said to be unnecessary and even suggested to be wrong. In the Catholic Church, circumcision falls under the category of unnecessary mutilation and amputation and is therefore a sin!

There are two extremes here. The ones that see it has mutilation and wrong and others who see no problem with it. What it comes down to is that it's a personal decision that needs to be made by you and your partner. We have our son circumcised never had any trouble. It's not medically needed though. I see lots of links have already been provided. Just do some research and make the decision you and your partner feel is right. Good Luck

The AAP recently put out the statement that they can no longer recommend/backup the routine practice of circumcision because medical studies find NO significant reasons for it...while some studies show decreased risk of stds and cancers in male and females others show the opposite...and the penile cancer they speak of is less common then male breast cancer! and is only lower because part of the penis is gone (its like saying you should chop women's breasts off to lessen eh chance of breast cancer...foolish) and don't forget the risk of serious infections! if i was you i would seriously think about what the experience will be like for your child and look into the procedure itself see the pictures and what they do and then decide if its the right thing if you feel its wrong don't do it just so he looks like his father two wrongs don't make a right and if you feel its wrong then it is... if you have it done it can never be undone but if you opt not to he can choose for himself latter...

When I was pregnant with my first son I knew 3 adult men that need to be circumcised, one was almost 80. I know that there are billions of men in the world who are not, but I would rather have it done at one day old then later in life. Many people say just teach your son to wash it well, most of the time you can barley get your children to wash their hands. I don't think that your 12 year old son will tell you if he is having issues down there. It is really up to you. You will hear as many reason why as to why not, ultimately the decision is up to you.

I know most men really want their children to get it, it's not much but it does help a little with cleanliness and risk of infection. A LOT less people get circumcisions now adays but men are scared of their son's getting made fun of in the locker room or with women etc. I guess they would know best and this is why we got our son circumcised. GOODLUCK hope this helped

Since your religion does not require it, circumcise for health reasons.
The uncircumcised:
have a greater risk of HIV infection
have a greater risk of HPV infection
have poorer hygiene in that area
have higher rates of infections or inflammations
Circumcision reduces urinary tract infection.
There are many other reasons, but these should motivate you, for health reasons, to circumcise your child.

Please don't do that to your child. It's not necessary. As long as you teach your child to clean himself properly (as you would with any child) then he most likely won't have any trouble. Neither of my son's are circumcised and they haven't had any problems with it. Don't let people lie to you. It IS PAINFUL!!!! I have seen it done firsthand before. They do scream to the point of turning purple when this is done. I have felt helpless standing there beside the little one, not being able to help it or console it in any way.

yes, forget about religion but a lot of health risks are decreased for circumcised men as opposed to non circumcised.
Everything from certain cancers to HIV. Also, when he is married and having sex with his wife it decreases her chances of UTI's. Because the bacteria isn't maintained in the folds of skin.
When he is older he will not be too pleased if you don't get him circumcised now, lol.
