One to two days

Gastroenteritis (stomach flu)is the irritation and inflammation of the digestive tract. This condition may cause abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea. Severe cases of gastroenteritis can result in dehydration. Gastroenteritis affects people of all ages and both sexes, however the most severe symptoms are experienced by infants and seniors.

The main symptoms of gastroenteritis are watery diarrhea and vomiting. Other symptoms include headache, fever, chills, and abdominal pain. The symptoms may appear within hours or a few days of infection. They usually last for 1 to 2 days, but may last as long as 10 days.

As a healthcare provider I am telling you that you need to narrow your question for it to be answered as you want it to be. The flu IS a virus. Every virus is different so.....incubation periods vary with the specific virus. Pick a gastrointestial virus and then ask the question. And by the way....as a healthcare provider when I get a patient with a 'stomach flu' I do not test to the point that I find out which virus it is. They are all basically treated the same. Viruses are difficult to 'cure' so we usually just treat the symptoms untill it all runs it's course. Dehydration is the biggest issue....so I put the worry into that. Your question is usually not important to those of us actually practicing medicine in most cases of viral gastrointestinal enteritis.

First of all there is no such thing as the stomach flu, it's the same thing as a stomach virus. But the incubation period is one to two days. I've done a lot of research on this, but if you just type in stomach virus into google, you can find all this information.
