then I was suppose to go back to the doc....but for some reason I couldn't at that time(two months ago) I felt and still feeling so good after I took those medications for over a month......I was wondering if the depression and anxiet will return because I didn't continue with the doc?
how long do people usually take medications when they're slightly depressed?

It takes a while for the meds to come out of your system. Some people have to stay on it indefinately due to chemical imbalance, and others may be on it because they are having trouble coping with a specific thing. If you cannot pinpoint what is making you depressed and anxious and the symptoms return, you need to see your doctor...and this time STAY on the meds. You can always see a therapist while you are on meds to determine what is troubling you and once that is worked out, you may be able to get off the meds (under doctor supervision) for good.

I am on Lexapro (20mg) for GAD and Depression and I am on it indefinately...if I miss a day or so I get anxious and depressed...but it depends on your hormones and chemical balances...sometimes I hear a little is all you need, and if you can manage it, then I would talk to your doctor...could there be a depression medicine that could be taken on an as needed basis? I am not sure but I am on it indefinately...it is a low dose, but it works wonders for me!! I felt the effects within weeks of beginning it and I have been on it for 2 years now...but as I said it depends on the body itself...my medicine is more for General Anxiety Disorder, maybe check into that if you do need to be on meds...hopefully this helped a little!!

stay on the medicine; it will take time for the medicine to get out of your system if you have quit taking it.
