Yes, that's a great start! Drinking only water, cutting down on sweets and walking should do it! Walking is very good to burn calories. You should do around 30 minutes a day though.

Yes you can. But adding exercise, even a little like 10 minutes a day will speed things up. Also, exercise has the natural effect of increasing your health and usually your life span.
Basic weight loss:
weight loss = less calories in (eaten) as calories burned
You body is always burning some calories (Basal metabolic Rate)
and if you add basic exercise to you routine you will burn more calories. And if you are taking in less calories than you are burning, your body can start to burn up the ready available sugars and fats found in your body. Take in too little calories and your body will go into starvation mode and your metabolism slows, making it harder to lose weight. Take in way to little and exercise too much, your body moves into a catabolic state, breaking down needed essential fats and proteins simply to support life. Balance everything out and try not to lose more than 1-2 lbs (3500 - 7000 calories) per week.

Definitely... You'll be cutting out a lot of fatty stuff, and you'll most definitely see results... I'm sure of it.
