She has been spayed/vaccinated and is kept inside and has not been introduced to any new cats. All of my other cats are spayed/vaccinated.
She has always been a "weirdo". Kind of cranky, growls, hisses when you pick her up, nice one second running away mad the next. We chalked it up to her being "moody" or "weird". We don't know her previous history being a former stray and all. She is a little over a year old.
She also chases her tail, bites it and growls while doing it. That is a thing she does every so often.
Over the past few days she has been doing it multiple times a day and had had diahrrehea and a runny eye. You can also see her 3rd eyelid and she is very tired and lazy.
I have an appt. for Monday btw. The vet tech could hear her growling/hissing over the phone and was concerned for her too.

Has anyone ever heard of anything like this? I thought about Rabies but she was vaccinated and has never been exposed to an un-vaccinated cat since October.

Rabies is a very scary possibility. She WAS vaccinated in January for Rabies among other things.
At the time of her vaccinations she had been indoors for over 2 months with cats that have been vaccinated before her arrival.
Although in some rare cases Rabies can incubate up to 6 months after exposure..

I am preparing myself for a diagnosis such as FIV (AIDS) or Leukemia or both.

She is sleeping peacefully now on her favorite blanket by my bed...

Thanks to everyone answering my question...

It is scary for me to see my Shadow so unhappy and sickly.

She has always had "issues" mentally.

I hope it is not nuerological..but then it may be better than a serious thing like FIV or Rabies...Poor kitties...

Sounds like she may have an inflammation or a topical parasite like fleas or ticks. These can hurt the cat and make them grumpy and sensistive to touch, or make them scratch or attack themselves. The vet will most likey pin down a simple cause and offer a treatment, but be prepared for something serious like feline leukemia or another untreatable disease. If you suspect rabies, quarentine the cat. Rabies symptoms are as follows:

First stage (lasts 2-3 days):

Apprehension, nervousness, anxiety, solitude, and a fever may be noted.

Second Stage (1-7 days):
Animals become restless and irritable and are hyperresponsive to auditory and visual stimuli. As they become more restless, they begin to roam and become more irritable and vicious.

Third Stage (usually appears 2-4 days after first symptoms):

Nerves affecting the head and throat are the first to be involved and animals may begin to salivate as a result of their inability to swallow. Deep labored breathing and a dropped jaw may result as the diaphragm and face muscles become increasingly paralyzed. Animals may make a choking sound.

If your cat hasn't come into contact with other animals, and has survived more than a few weeks then I doubt rabies is the cause. Rabies usually kills swiftly.

She might have an infection in her anal glands that is irritating her. The vet will let you know what's bothering her. Good luck, I'm sure she'll be OK.
