I want my birthday cake to be made of Jello. My birthday is today. Hurry, please. Also, it there anything special I need to do to make layers? I seem to remember someone saying something about alcohol and how it makes the layers stick. Is that true?

Well, to make layers, you need a lot of time. You have to let each layer set, and then pour on a new layer and let that set, etc. In order to get Jello to slide out smoothly, just fill your sink with hot water and put the mold in for about 15 seconds. It will heat the outside, and let it slip out. I would also suggest doing the gelatin mix 1.5 times stronger than the usual recipe on the box, so like 3 recipes of Jello, but only 2 recipes of water. That will help it hold up a bit better to coming out of the mold.

No reason why you can't use a bundt pan. You should add less water to the jello so that the mold will hold it's shape better. Spray the pan with cooking spray like Pam. Happy Birthday!!!

Pam is possibly your best bet for making things come out easily, but with layers this may not work. A non-stick pan works, but since warm or hot watter applied to the outside of the mold loosens it there should not be a problem when time comes for removal. As for the layers, you should cool the first layer(s) before adding another. Add each layer after cooling, or the hot liquid will liquefy the last and mix with it instead of forming on top of the last layer. I find a HOT towel applied to the outside of the mold while it is over the dish you want it to land on works best. Apply it and walk away until it drops. Remove towel and mold immediately. Refrigerate again until ready to serve.

Yes, you can use a bundt pan for a jello mold. You can use plastic wrap on the mold to make the jello come out easier.

Yes, a bundt cake pan will work. I suggest spraying it with oil before setting. Alcohol and pinapple will cause it to not set. Jello is made from boiling the hides and tendons and bones of slaughtered animals, and the bromelian in pineapple starts to break down the animal protein, and will keep it from jelling. Happy Birthday! Mine is tomorrow

Looks like this kiddie pool is getting pretty crowded. I have a neighbor with a pool that he never uses. Why don't you bring the crowd over my way, and we'll fill that sonuvabitch up. I'll start filling up shopping carts of jello at each of the local grocery stores while you're all on the way.
