It sounds like you want blank signs that you can paint, carve, or otherwise decorate. If that is the case, a local source is going to be your best bet. My advise is to visit neighborhood old time hardware store or lumber company. Those guys will know all of the woodworking hobbiests in the area and can hook you up with a retired hobbiest that would be happy to supply you with blank signs. You should easily be able to find a guy who will cut the shapes to your specifications for a nominal fee, especially if you supply the wood. These guys are always looking for a few bucks to buy saw blades and other types of tools that need replacing every so often.

You might also want to look for these guys in the classified ads in your local newspaper. Sometimes, they place small ads for their services.
