you "need" a pitbull?
you aren't going to get one for less than 8 weeks old. it NEEDS to be with its mother until 8 weeks. and probably not for 400$.
Go to google and type in "Pit Bull Breeders in (your state)" and you can search around. Just make sure it is a reputable breeder and if you can, go to check out the place.
or why not adopt? there are a million unwanted pitbulls looking for new homes, you might even be able to find a puppy.

Just type in your state/zipcode and look for pitbulls!

I hope you are not planning on treating it like your "friend's" pit.
Pit bulls are a lot of work and are not for everyone. If you just want to get one so you can clip its ears at 3 months (that's charming, by the way......) and have a dog that looks tough, these are the wrong reasons. Dogs are companions not accessories. People tend to confuse them nowadays... however, most people are using (relatively) harmless little tiny dogs... if those dogs aren't trained/treated exactly right, they will just be a nuisance. Do the same thing to a 55 lb pit bull and its a different story.

Since no puppy should leave its litter before a minimum of 8 weeks old, you need a pitbull that is 8 weeks old or older.

There are many pit mixes at shelters.
Be aware, they are a high energy dog and need a lot of exercise and love. Many pits are in shelters and even put to sleep because of negligent owners or people that train them to be mean.
They are sweet dogs and I hope you can find one that needs a loving home and provide it :)

FIRST CHECK YOU LOCAL DOG SHELTERS. pit bulls are the number one dogs to go to the "back room" and never return because of their bad image on some idoits. if you cannot find any then find local dog breeders. but if they are selling them younger than 8 weeks then i would not trust them. it is illegal in most of the states to sell any pup under 8 weeks.
