no matter how many contradictions and fallacies and arguments we present, you will never ever admit to them. at all costs you will make an exuse. you have too. you can be staring at the most blatant obvious flaw and you will make an excuse for it at all costs. will you admit this? that the option of you being wrong doesnt exist in your mind?

It's true whether they admit it or not. Nothing can shake their rigid dogma.

Right you are. Because no matter how many explanations we give, you will not accept them. "The carnal mind is not subject to the law of God neither can it be". That's in the Bible somewhere. I don't think the "contradictions and fallacies and arguments" atheists present has anything to do with Christianity, really. We follow the teachings of Jesus. Is virgin birth impossible? Is rising from the dead impossible? Science has grown to the point where these 2 things have happened( people who died have been revived). It's easier to believe in the miracles of the Bible in this modern age due to science. And as science advances, more and more of the Bible will become clear.

"that the option of you being wrong doesn't exist in your mind"

I did not come to know Christ through deduction or induction, why then are you surprised that I think very little of so-called 'contradictions and fallacies.'

This doesn't mean I can't defend the bible using reason, in fact...

I contend that...
1) Whatever 'problems' one sees in the bible stem from

a) misunderstanding ancient Jewish culture

b) not understanding that parts of the bible are meant to be
taken literally, some metaphorically, but is still, in a quite
literal sense, God's truth

c) inherent problems in translating between two completely
different languages and cultures (words or ideas aren't
mapped one-to-one)

d) are a result of one bringing non-biblical philosophies (e.g.
that the natural world is all that exists) into a biblical
context, and expecting to show that it is contradictory.
This can only show that the bible doesn't agree with ones
pre-conceived notions of how the world is, not that it is
contradictory in its own right.

2) Reason itself may not be sufficient to demonstrate God. I am not convinced of this view myself (and I have recently read many arguments from modern philosophers such as Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, proving that a God exists) but am still debating it's truth. As much as I love reason, I am not going to assume it is the only way to Truth(read: God).

3) Separate from the above contentions, I have already found Christ to be 'The Truth.' Why should I reconsider what I already established. From reading the bible, I have learned of this man, Jesus, who was called the Christ. When I considered Him long enough, I found His existence (and indeed, the existence of God) to be self-evident. As such, yes, I am unwilling to believe that Christ wasn't who he claimed to be. But this is no different, as far as logical fallacy is concerned, than ones assumption that the physical wold is all that exists, or that all physical behavior in this world is determined by a set of Natural Laws.

I hope that addressed your questions.

In Love,

~ S

I like your question. I know you wanted Christians but I saw this and had to cheer you on. main points. Mary and Jo. Jesus' 'rents. back then a woman wouldn't couldn't shoulcn't deny her husband. alot like the middle east. Yet Mary had to to keep Jesus as her only child. Jesus is a man... most men have lust, hense either he was a gay man who was very tight nit with his sex or he took Mary M. as a G/F or wife. Back then a woman standing on the righthand side of a man was a sign of marrige. No if no ands no buts. Mary's place was to Jesus' right side. Even earlier..... Adem and Eve. were the FIRST PEOPLE on earth..God created no others.. how did there one surviving son stumble on a village FILLED with people old and young alike? don't you think the "good book" would explain that? Nope not once. but you christian's keep your heads in the ground wouldn't want to enlighten you at all.

First, I am not positive what you are referring to. Admit what? The stories of the Bible to be wrong or flawed? They aren't! The Bible is to be taken literal. And each book of the Bible, for the most part, was written by different authors, and each author had their own "style" of writing. Some may have written chronilogical order, while some may have written a little different. Like you and me may see the same car accident, we may tell the police our own each different stories or account on what happened.

But, all in all, if you are talking about admit we can we wrong...sure, everyone makes mistakes, even Christians! But, that is the whole basis of it...that we admit Jesus dies on the cross for our sins, was resurrected three days later, and he forgives us of ours sins, even if sometimes it may seem inconceiveable that he does not. But, that is the most glorious thing! He forgves all our sins, if we will only accept Him! :-)

Why should we believe you? You come up with wrong notions about the Bible. You pick and chose verses out of context and say, "well this is what God thinks", and you got it all wrong. Why should we believe lying man who is out to mock God. When will you finally realize that you are wrong and living a lie, or doesn't that thought exist in your mind? And by the way I am not squirming I am standing on a solid rock, Christ. Who is your God, James Cameron, Mr. "I'm the King of the World".

The devil made you say that, didn't he? At least the Christians will be thinking that. I agree with you 100%, that with the flaws you get childish reasoning when it is pointed out, and get the live "all part of God's will", or "all part of God's plan", etc. Or that God could miracle this to happen and that to happen, but certainly could not assist Noah with the 50 year build of the ark, just stuff like that.

Your right, ok, you win. You are not going to listen to any thing we say either.

The bible is written to one of three people. Jew, Gentile or the Church. It has three applications. Doctrinal, Historical and Inspirational.

What is written to the Jews does not necessarily apply to the Church but and unlearned mind would see this as a contradiction.

I know I am wrong. God is not wrong though. There are things in the Bible that are difficult to understand, some contradictions, some paradoxes, probably even some typos. But the message is not compromised. If you are looking for a book that is a miracle in its textual inerrancy, you're just looking for a sign. If you're looking for people who totally understand God and everything in the Bible, you are searching for someone Who died on a cross some two thousand years ago, rose from the grave and ascended into Heaven and is seated at God's right hand. He can be found, but not with cynical reasoning and not by those who insist He must reveal Himself according to their own bias.

You're right , of course. No, they won't admit it. It is nice to watch them squirm though. A lot like frying ants with a magnifying glass. You ever do that as a kid?

Faith = Putting aside one's Logic, Intelligence, Rationality, etc..

So if one admits to you one is wrong, what happens to one's Faith?

So you are calling Faith Flawed, Contradictory and Fallible.

This of course is based on one's Logic, Intelligence, Rationality, etc..
