The tounge is probably the most useful tool in knowing how far the kiss is going to go. Usually if I'm getting into a pretty deep kiss, and the girl hasen't made that move, I'll use my tounge to test the waters, and to see if she would be ok with the kiss turning into making out. But if she's not, well then the tounge really dosen't matter after that, I just enjoy the kiss.
