you should probably buy a new wheelset... if the rear wheel cracked, the front could be next...

stay with what works for your bike... no need to make major changes unless you want to upgrade.

The first thing I would do is to visit my LBS and get an estimate of a new rim and having it laced to my hubset.
That would include rim, spokes, and the like, and you will need a rim with the same spoke count as the hubset and you will definitely need to use your cassette unless your changing out chain-rings and chain.
The other thing you need to take into consideration is the age of the Campy Group you're running, is the hubset worth using, are the bearings in good shape or does it also need to be replaced.
Depending on cost and how much you want to spend you and the LBS should be able to determine the best route to take.

If the rear rim is cracked, more than likely the front will be next. Replace both of them. If you have Campy cassette, you will need Campy compatible hub. If you go with new rims make sure you pay attention if it is a 32 or 36 hole rim. You can tell by counting the holes in the flange.

Have you considered just changing the rim. If you get one with the same spoke count it is a relatively easy process. Even if the bike shop does it for you it should be a cheaper option.

You should be able to reuse your freewheel and cassette.Your better of to stay with a campy compatible hub. You could adapt a shimano.(but why)

Just have BOTH wheels relaced with new rims. It is far cheaper than a new wheelset especially with Campy parts that are very expensive.

If you have Campy components, you need a Campy hub OR you need to get a new cassette that has been remanufactured with Campy spacers in it.

If the rim is replaceable, just get the wheel rebuilt.
