My first guess would be that you are running Windows XP with Service Pack Two. Look near the top of the screen when you try to download and see if a box comes up telling you to click it to allow Active X Controls to be installed. Also, make sure your browser settings are set to allow or ask to run Active X Controls.

make sure the program you're trying to download is compatible with windows vista

try to either "run" or "save" the file
if you run it.. it should automatically download files to your pc - then a window should pop up and ask if you want to install - click yes

to save the file - click save - then a directory window should pop up - and scroll through to the folder you want to save the "exe" file to - example - my received files
once that's done
go in to that folder - double click on the icon and a window should pop up - to start the install / set up procedure
make sure you do - custom set up - otherwise if you do automatic set up - you might get various other toolbars and add-ons added or spyware stuff added

follow the prompts - clicking "next" til you're done

also check to see if you have a - pop up blocker that is enabled - if it is - you will have to disable it so you can download

once the download is done - you can enable the pop up blocker again

What browser are you using?
trying going to the website of the program you want and download it from there.
it usually says something like "if your download doesn't start then click here" do you do that?
