I've got a blister about half an inch at its widest point, on my middle finger where the nail begins. It's puffy, hurts to touch, slightly reddened, and leaks sometimes. How should I go about treating it?

Don't pop it, that will only spread the infection. Cover it with a bandage one day and then the next leave it uncovered so it can get some air (one day covered, one day uncovered). Keep doing this until it gets better. Rinse it with cool water while it is exposed to the air. The day that you have it covered, keep it as dry as possible. See a doctor if it gets worse or the pain increases.

Do the blisters weep? Do they itch? it would properly be eczema. in the journey that they are merely a layer of epidermis in a blister then, sorry i have no theory - see a well being care service. Lavender & Myrrh needed Oil, in equivalent parts, helps heal foot blisters. do no longer pop them although as ought to change into contaminated. do no longer seal lower than a plaster as they couldn't dry out - loosely tape gauze over to guard merely.

Sounds like you have a perinikia. It's an infection and the only way it will go away is to have it drained. It will not get better on it's own. These are very painful and sometimes requires antibiotics.
Good-luck.

When I was in the military we'd get them all the time on our feet, as you might imagine. They would pop them and drain them -- yea, it hurts! Then clean it out -- pour some hydrogen peroxide on it. Then some antibiotic like bacitracin or neosporin and cover that bad boy up.

Good luck!

how long have you had it?
it kind of sounds like a herpatic whitlow to me,
if you've had it and it keeps coming back.
you should go get checked by a doc if it has persisted
longer than three weeks.
it could be a sign of something systemic.
just be careful!
