God causes a person to have faith and that faith comes from God's word. God's Word is the breath of spiritual life.
Hebrews 12:2 "looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."
Romans 10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Faith is an indoctrination. Faith can be gained at any age. I don't think that a pure heart (if this is possible) has little to do with Faith. At best faith is a theory of God.

There are neuro-biological factors in the brain that make beleif in something inevitable. The cultural factors leading to belief in any particular way are varied and many.

a pure heart + a working brain based its theorems and ideas on *logic* :)
you'll find that children have the highest degree in faith because of their clear natural .

most of the ppl have faith cuz they are afraid.afraid of being alone in this world,they need to believe there is somebody,a divinity,that looks over him and takes care of him.
all of us felt this at least once in his life,the need of a supernatural help...
but yet im not very faithful...maybe there is a god,but i have alot of doubts

unfortunately, two main reasons are:1) they are christian simply because their parents are, not because they truly believe in christianity, and 2) they fear hell or they want to go to heaven
