What do you think of people who want to have the area numbed (besides for permanent cosmetics)?

I already have tattoos, just a question! =0)

I'm doing 8 to 9 hours in one session in about three weeks.....I'm looking forward to it but dreading it a little too. BUT I agree that it is something that one SHOULD have to go through; if nothing else as a way of "earning" the right to wear the tattoo (sort of like the way tattoos were originally used to show passage to manhood), so I'm not even considering taking anything beforehand for pain.

The pain and the Permanency are part of what makes it a tattoo. This debate is kinda like the "fading inks" theyre trying to bring out, it means more stupid decisions that have to be fixed.

I dont necessarily agree with the whole prenumbing thing, just because then you will never know if you could take the pain or not, however after 3 hours of a longer sittign its real nice to have at least 2 more pain free hours from the gel. Just means you can work longer on a piece that might have had to mean two sittings before due to client fatigue. Its not for everyone and its not for everypiece but it sure helps on those large ones.

Great tatoo quote:

"you bought the ticket now take the ride"

Most people would say that it is worth it to go through the pain of getting a tattoo. I do not have any tattoos but I know alot of different people who do have them. Most people like their tattoos but my husband has both arms tattooed and now he is sorry for them. There is nothing wrong in having the area numbed. Some people do not tolerate pain too much. That is the main reason that I do not have any.

No... I'm going to stick with the price you pay being the actual money... final answer! :-)

I have tatts. I actually think the pain is what makes it addictive. I had not heard of people getting the area numbed.

For goodness sakes, it's not THAT bad!!

Yes, I do.

I think it persuades people away from it that aren't that committed to it. Those that want the area numbed want the pay-off but don't want to pay the price.

yes and no. i don't agree with applying cremes and ointments to dull the pain. if you can't take the bit of pain that a tattoo causes then you don't deserve to have one. but i am very good with handling pain. all of my tattoos have hurt a lot but i don't show my pain and i easily forget it. however i think the pain is part of the tattoo experience and they wouldn't be as special without the pain that comes with them.

i think your not ready to get a tatoo bc the pain is what u have to go through to get the tatoo and getting it removed hurts more then getting it
