someone told me once that he bred german shepard and pit bulls together to make a mix dog that is good for hunting bear.and I was wondering if others bred them to be bear dogs, simple enough question really.

Your question makes no sense. Are you asking if German Shepard dogs or Pit bulls were BRED to be Bear Dogs?
Or something else.
What do you mean by bear dogs? Fighting bears in pits? Hunting bears?
No, GSDs weren't bred to be bear dogs.
Pitbulls were originally bred to fight in the pits, bears included.

OK Tom what is a Bear dog? You can add to the question. Is this a big teddy bear like a Chow look or are we going for a dog that can ward off a wild black or brown bear? Like the ridgeback wards off a lion?
