It would be just as easy to get a compression coupler and fix it.

The bottom line, as stated here is that yes, you can pinch off the leaking line to maintain pressure in the system to the other three wheels. If the only problem with your brakes is a busted line, it is a relatively easy fix that you can do yourself if you have a bit of experience. Failing that, the repair shouldn't cost much anyway...if it is just a line.
The problem with "delaying the repair" this way is that it will cause your vehicle to brake unevenly, causing it to pull towards the side on which the brake is working. Obviously, you will not have as much braking power either.
If you do attempt this, drive with extreme caution. I guarantee you that if you get in an accident with your brakes rigged like this, you will be in a heap of trouble with all involved.

if you only have one of the rear tires braking, the car is VERY likely to spin out under heavy braking. if you really want to do this, just pinch off the line before the break.

Depends on your system, but I have heard of people (well my buddies dad actually) who pinched off the line going to the rear brakes with a pair of vice grips. HOWEVER this is VERY ILLEGAL and I do not recommend it. So basically it can be done but I wouldn't recommend it.

I hope you're not turning into Astronut thinking about messing with brake lines. If so, you're telling on yourself online.
However, if this is an legit question (its hard to tell with multiple yahoo ids flooding server), I would advise you to consult your mechanic or try one of the car advice websites especially suited to the make of your car.

Just stop driving your car until you have money to fix it. Seriously. You are putting yourself and others under great danger.
