I stress out over EVERYTHING! And my mom does too and my sisters do, my grandma does. Is it hereditary? It's not that I get mad at everything, it's just I always feel tense and worried about everything, even little things. I feel like there isn't enough time in a day to do everything I need to do. My life is at real turn point right now because I just finished high school and I'm going into Med school in Sept. I'm really nervous about it. Is there such thing as being too stressed out? Is there something that a doctor may prescribe in order to help me relax a little? What can I do?

I've tried working out when I knew I was really stressed and doing yoga and it helped a little but it's still not enough.

Hello, yes there is such a thing as too much stress. There are two types of stress, eustress, the good kind that keeps you organized and managed and there is distress, the bad kind that can lead to depression. The problem is probably that you have a chemical imbalance in your brain, either you have too much or too little serotonin in your brain. This is what keeps you emotions balanced. You can ask your doctor about taking an anti depressant. But if you are not the type to take meds, try getting organized, clear up your schedule a bit and if all that doesn't work try yoga I know it sound girly but it will totally take your mind off every thing for a while. Plus, all of my guy friends were willing to try it and they all agreed that it does help! I hope you can find a natural way to relax a little

It's probably more an environmentally learned condition than a hereditary thing, but regardless of what you want to call it, it is your choice to let it be an issue or not. And to answer your question, yes there is such a thing as being too stressed - this can lead to heart attacks, stroke, death, miscarriages, etc.

Are you overscheduling yourself? I think it's time for Dr. Phil to give you a wake up call. You might check out his website - it could definitely help!!

Yes, a doctor can prescribe medication, but I don't think is the route to go. Most will prescribe xanax. What you can do is STOP, think, organize, create a plan/schedule. You are letting anxiety overwhelm you - this is not necessary. STOP IT : ). Okay, anyway, I could give more tips/advice, but I'm just not up to it right now - check out www.drphil.com and/or message me thru e-mail or on Messenger (nlywy23)....

first of all try to find out whats ur exact problem. if u'll figure it out then u can work on it in a good way. other than day when u feel stressed, do lie on a chair and take 4 or 5 deep breaths and then think about the most lovable person of ur life. i hope when u'll see him or her in being a desperate situation after seeing u in a situation which u told that u normally into, then u will plan a idea in ur mind that, i have to make my lovable person happy for ever and u will stop doing all that. beleive on urself that u can get out of it. keep urself up all the time rather sad and make urself more and more busy. good luck!!

You have to motivate yourself, to remain calm yet active

Trace your goals and work hard trough them, don't watch or care what the other people is doing.
