This is in no way meant to be offensive, just observations.
I really hope people here have more common sense than what we see on our screens. Some of the advice given on this page is awful, and could very well be extremely harmful to the pets you say you love so much.
I am asking you today that if you love your dogs as much as you say you do, please fully research any answers you get to your questions before actually following any advice.
People need to wake up from the media induced coma we've been in for years, and see the facts. Do not believe everything the news tells you. Like any other "tv show" they are out for ratings as well. There views can be one sided, and exaggerated.
Look at all the facts, and sometimes people need to realize that Yes you may know more than trusted "professionals". This is especially true with dogs. Some places are great for certain information, and horrible for other kinds.
Wake up Yahoo users. The "real" world is waiting for you.

One example of media induced phobia that affects dogs: All of these OMG PIT BULLS are the devil, questions and replies.
Health related, alot of the nutrition advice given is really bad. People only believe what they've been told, never doing any actual research. And that's harmful for our pets.
Also answers that say Go ahead, give your pet OTC meds, they'll be fine. No they won't. Dogs are not people, at best there dosages would be way different than ours, at worst you could kill your dog.

This is a great post and hopefully people will listen. Unfortunately I think the majority of people have their minds made up before they recieve even one answer, I think that they only are looking for others that agree with their views and ideas. I also think that some of the answers I have seen are horrible and I also agree that people need to wake up from their media induced comas, if they do not owning a dog can seriously become a thing of the past. The amount of misinformation and the beliefs people have is really alarming.
Keep up educating others it is the only way to get people to see and the only way to make a difference.

I agree with your statement. However, some of us have had
experiences that relate to questions being asked. I would
never suggest anything medical, but as far as training and other
topics go I have learned alot and I think it's nice to share that
info with other people. We all had to start somewhere. You
don't learn everything over night, But I know some tips are
very helpful to people. Alot of people end up getting rid of thier
dogs out of fustration for many reasons, and I would hate for
that to be the case, especially when I may beable to offer
a good suggestion.

Gee. That's funny. I read the ones where mothers get on and ask what to do for their 2 month olds. Are you saying that they shouldn't go on here either? Well da. No kidding. It just shows you how stupid people can be. Anything to save a buck.
Mostly I would think that (or would hope that) people come on here trying to find an easy fix. Ya have to be careful about what you read. But this is true with everything. You can't believe everything you hear either. Here's hoping that the people that come on here have "been there" and "done that". Otherwise....who knows.

When it comes to the health of my dogs, I would never come to Yahoo Answers for my diagnosis. Be smart folks.. go see a vet.. someone who can actually SEE your dog and HEAR your dog and in some cases FEEL the dog.
Its near impossible to diagnosis a situation without being there.
Now coming to Yahoo Answers for training advice, name suggestions and non-life threatening advice makes sense.. but if my furry babies lives are on the line, I would never trust them to strangers who say they are vets, or vets in training..
Not saying that some folks don't know what they are saying when it comes to solutions and advice but more about the poster giving all the information.

I agree, but this applies to all walks of life. Not everything on the internet is true and you do need to sift through an awful amount of rubbish to get to the good bits. However, on a positive note I feel the internet has allowed more people to gain more knowledge more quickly than without it.

Look, a lot of us out here have this thing called "common sense." I follow advice from my VET, and anything I see on here I research fully. As for TV, I can't say I believe anything on it, because I don't watch it, haven't since 2002! Nothing there worth seeing! I'm sure a lot of us do the same as I about the checking and double-checking though-our pets are our FAMILY, and we aren't serial killers.

I hope that people here can wade through the awful advice and find the good stuff. If nothing else, maybe someone here will recommend a trainer. a book, or a moderated discussion group that will help them....

Do you have an examples?
It's true that there are a lot of bad answers on here, but still, a lot of them are true, and actually would help the dog.
