As with all Windows programs at some point everyone is going to have to switch to Vista (Unless you use a Mac, Linux, or BEOS). Right now there are still too many flaws and security risks that make me want to wait until they are corrected. I keep thinking about windows ME and how fast it was dropped and 2k came out.

As far as what version of Vista you want depends on what environment you want to use it in. Enterprise, Home Office, or Basic Home use. The more "corporate" you go the more networking ability/security control you have (users and groups exct.).

My recommendation is to wait a few months to a year and see what happens. Don't jump in to soon before the bugs are fixed and the service packs are released. Just prepare for the jump to Vista since we will have to do it sooner or later.

No. It professionals, including myself do not recommend an upgrade to Vista at this time. It will likely take at least two years before the bugs are mostly worked out. The reason is there are just too many problems with it, such as drivers, sound cards not working, printers not working, applications not working etc. Much better is to get a good open source operating system for free, such as kubuntu at www.kubuntu.org.

No. Vista has almost no drivers for printers and such, it needs high end graphics, lots of RAM and really isn't a big improvement over XP.

Wait until the first Service Pack before buying, if your PC can even run Vista.

Go to Microsoft.com to learn more about the various versions and hardware requirements.

Hi!
I have XP, and have not had any problems with it. I go on yahoo answers every day, and every few minutes, there is another person saying that there is something wrong with there computer and they just put vista on it. I have heard nothing but bad news about it so far, so I am sticking with XP.

Thats just me though

Not now. I would wait a year or so. Too many bugs in it at the moment. Some really nice features, but don't jump on the bandwagon yet. Let them fix their issues then get it later.

no! any new windows operating system is buggy for a good year, best to stick with xp till they get the major bugs worked out of it :)

trust me, 10 years of working on windows operating systems gives quite a bit of insight.

just ask anyone who ran out and got xp straight up :) most pc's experienced major random crashes, security issues, compatibility issues etc. till service pack 1 came out.
