He went against the grain, is independent, doesn't do what others tell him to do, rebelled against an iron-fisted authority, made his own path and was willing to sacrifice a comfortable life in heaven for his beliefs......

By the way I don't "believe" in Satan or any other figure found in Semitic religions but I just thought it was an interesting observation....

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

The Ultimate Seducer. My theory is that He is actually a She, but She disguises herself as a male. God was in love with Her but She wouldn't return His affections. In a fit of rage He created the most wonderfully perfect place, "Eden", and gave it to the puniest, most worthless creatures in the universe, humans, to envoke jealously and anger in Her. It worked, but it worked too well. Not only Her, but millions of other angels rebelled, and now they are tasked with trying to warn us about whats really going on (That we are truly free spirits and that not even God has any control over what we do). God didn't have any other choice but to create religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) to try and keep as many from learning the truth...

satan was the most beautiful of all the angels. He also loved music. When God created man, satan and other angels were jealous because God loved man more than the angels. So, satan decided to start a war with God. Heaven was split. One side fighting for satan and the other side fighting for God. satan is jealous, defiant and narcissistic. he still believes he can win a war that he is doomed to lose. satan is not red and he does not have horns, he looks like any other angel and from the Bible we see that God made us to look as He and His angels do. satan tried to tempt Christ with the offer of power, told him to jump from the mountain and a thousand angels would catch him. Christ saw right through satan. satan does not have good intentions towards mankind, he only wants our souls. I am not much of a church goer but I do know my Bible. I started out looking for loop holes. There aren't any. Evidently God has one good lawyer. Why is it so much easier to believe in satan than in God? Ponder this

he disguises himself as an angel of light, so yeah. evil seems more attractive in general.

and you think Satan is all that great? let's see, he got booted out of God's palace not by God, but one of his brother angels; he didn't go against the grain, he just wanted too much respect and tried to be that grain; He already had the highest position an angel could (worship leader) but lost it; followed what was already there (he didn't create sin, sin was a bi-rpoduct of free will); he had no beliefs, just jealousy and now he knows he's doomed eternally. yeah, GREAT guy...

But he is the norm and the few who are against him are the ones against the grain.

As depicted in literature, most particularly "Paradise Lost", an attractive literary figure.

Attractive in that he tells us what we want to hear, plays to our base instincts, tries to get us to justify to ourselves and others things that we know are wrong and bad for us, all in an effort to end up with us following him rather that the wise and loving God he rebelled against. . .
Attractive in that he would take away the free agency that God allows us. . .
Gee, I dunno. You make your choice. I'm staying with the Good Guy.

And..the brutal irony is that what you say he rebelled aganist, he himself wishes to become. That doesnt sound like an attractive character to me at all...it sounds like jealousy. A trait he tries to instill in all of us.

I'm not gay or anything, but I did ask around and it's pretty unanimous, Bill Gates is an ugly nerd.
