Now, I got a lot of Biblical descriptions, and some nice comments from friends, but what I want to know is this: What do you picture in your mind when you think of God? What does God look like, represent, smell like, sound like. I want a real, physical picture of what people think. Thanks! =0)

I think He has the wonderful scent of a man. Jesus was a carpenter. Maybe the fresh wood scent too. Or maybe the scent od the ocean when He has just baptized people. I see Him as a long, brown, wavy, strong haired guy, I do not normally like guys with a long hair. I can feel that I love His voice, His message is so powerful and loving that His voice must be amazing. He is a strong and nice looking man who is clean. He is warm and He is wearing sandals and white clothing. I want to be with Him.

First, Jesus is a manifestation recognizable to mankind. God in
my mind has no actual physical substance -- like the air you breathe
or a vacuum that's full of I Am --exists throughout the universe and is
all places at once. In short, there is no physical picture, odor or sound
but rather, OMNIPOTENT ( by definition)

Mmnnn... *strains* The answer is... "A Potato"!

God is all powerful right? So he can be anywhere? But if he's around he isn't going to be some flashy glowing lighty thing is he? Well, not in my eyes, wandering around scaring the beje*us out of everyone with lightning coming out his fingertips.

No. He's got to be in everything if he's in anything. So why not a potato? If he isn't in a potato, just an ordinary, unexciting everyday object I don't think he's anywhere.

Baked perhaps. Slightly sweet, not too hot and smelling a little earthy. Just right.

i have to admit i have often thought the same thing,i envision a dark complected man with brown eyes because He was a jew,His hair not long or real short and looking into His eyes would be like falling into a sea of love not a large man maybe tall and slender meek and sweet but not in any type of imagination weak, you could feel the strength that protruded from him,i dont know why but i see Him in a white garment trimmed in gold

Refer to the chapter on the characteristics of a Soul in the Concept of "Rational Spirituality" available on the Dhaxem website. Or even better still, read the Concept. If after that you still cannot picture him, drop me an e-mail, and we can discuss this more closely.

God is the biggest, brightest, and most beautiful Soul in the Universe.

According to Buddhists god is not a being but an experience. Once you reach enlightenment you experience god. That works for me because now god cannot be twisted and rearranged to fit peoples greedy desires. If god is a thinking, living, and breathing being he can change his mind. Many people use this to their advantage.

This is how one pastor described it - reading the bible and picture yourself in it, sitting next to Jesus when he taught the multitude; you soon see Him smiling and laughing and become clear to you.

I have not seen God, but I experienced God. His peace and love and the beautiful fragrance that nothing on earth can be compared. You cannot explain the overwhelmed peace and the love that you have.

Sweety...as much as I would like to give you a real, physical picture of God...I cannot do that. I will explain however and apologize in advance that it might be lengthy.

I have been a Christian all my life...yes, I was born into a Christian family and raised as a Christian, was born again in Christ and am saved and am a sinner. I know you do not care that much, but if I do not put it that way, other Christians attack me. Quite a paradox isn't it.

I used to see God as this "santa claus" type guy...sort of like our Gandolf, lol...in looks I mean. I kept God in this neat little box and subconsciously I had my God box and those things that went to God...separate from my everyday life. I went to church and I prayed, sang, and listened on Sunday and I gave my Wednesday nights to our church youth group...etc.

One night I was watching a television movie about a psychic. As usual I was online talking at the same time. One of my friends asked about the movie and I explained what it was about. She said...do you believe in psychics. I did not see her question at first as I had gone to the bathroom and was listening to this woman talk about the movie, which was, they claimed, based on factual events.

The woman was talking about God and how her abilities were a gift from God. Me...ever the skeptic was thinking...yeah right...another zealot or someone wanting to make money off God.

Then I looked over and saw the question my friend had written. I apologized to her and explained I had been distracted. Something kept nagging at me as I continued watching and talking. I went back to my friend and I asked her...did you ask me if I believed in psychics. She said yes, she had asked me but I had not answered. She knew I was a Christian and skeptical, lol, but she was a pretty free-thinker over all.

I said, when you first asked I would have said no...but something is working in my head and I am not sure right now what I think. I told her I was going to finish watching the movie.

All the time during the movie I kept having this...nag...like something you have forgotten but you just cannot remember what it is. Then suddenly it came over me like a wash of thoughts.

I had been trying to describe and define God on MY terms. I kept Him neatly in that box and gave Him only what I decided was His. I felt humbled...who was I to say what God was and what he would or could do...or not do. Why couldn't God give someone the gift of psychic abilities if He wanted to. Why had I been trying to tell others...and myself...what God would do. I would not hesitate to tell others about God IF THEY ASKED...but it was what, who and how God looked according to ME...by my own less than stellar descriptions in words I understood and in my control.

That night, I let God out of the box and into my life...all of it. This is NOT a born again story...for me that came years ago...I think it was merely an insight that had been there all along and I just kept denying it. I gave away my "santa claus"...sorry Gandolf...image of God and realized that describing God was beyond my ability.

This is why I cannot, no matter how much I might want, give you a physical picture of God. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain. You seem to be somewhat of a skeptic (based on previous questions and answers) yourself, so I hope you will take this is the spirit it is given.

No man has seen God. We have seen Christ. He of course was just physically a regular man. He wasn't particularly good looking. There is a scripture verse that does state this, I just don't know off hand where it is located. His voice can be one of great authority or it can be soft. When Christ came off the cross, He barely resemble a person because of the whipping and beating He received before the Crucifixion. I almost forgot. The fragrance of Christ is the perfume of Heaven, it is perfectly beautiful.
