ok i've known this guy for about 7 years now && our families are very very close. he is 3 years older than me && we like eachother now && we are going out. my best friend says hes way tooo old for me && i shouldnt be dating him but i think shes just jealouse or something. not to be rude or anything but thats what it seems like. i dont think its too old but that just my opinion && i need some more peoples opinions && ideas of what to do. thAnk you!!!!

i agree with curmudgeon exactly how old are the two of you? on another note, maturity wise are you two on the same level? thats imprtant also. i guess it depends how you two feel about it, if your fine and your families are fine with it i don't see a problem, you've known him for 7 years and are still friends and your families get along..i dont see anything wrong with that.

It usually gets to the families when age becomes an issue. You didn't say how old you are. If everything is all good than don't worry about it. Your friend probably just wants the guy.

3 years isnt that big of a difference as long as he isnt pressuring u into doin things that are bad for u. my boyfriend is 23 and im 19 we have been together for 4 and a half years, and all my friends were jealous and tellin me he was cheatin on me and all different things. if hes a good guy u needa tell ur friend to stay out of ur relationship with him and keep him. but if hes a jerk and acts more like ur father than ur dad, get rid of him.........

Three years is nothing if you're 50 and 53. It's a lot if you're 13 and 16. A lot depends on how old you are. Still, it does sound like your friend is a little jealous.

You don't say how old YOU are. If you are 18 and he is 21, that is fine. If yu are 15 and he is 18, that is bad.

if u like him, then go out with him, if it doesnt work him then move on, ur friend might be right that he's too old for u, and maybe just maybe he's trying to take advantage of u. make the right decision.

it depends how old you are...
if you are 17+ it is definitely okay, and you're right your friend is just jealous.
However, if you are 16 or younger, that is too old and you're friend is just looking out for you.
Remember, that if it really isnt in your best interest to date this guy, you're parents will find out about it.
