By all means get a rottie,
I have 2 and they get along great. It's good though that you get him as a pup after you have had your lab. Just make sure to get him neutured as they tend to be dominant.
I even have 2 cats that I got after the dogs and they absolutely love'm
I absolutely LOVE my 2 suckpots. They still belive they are lapdogs...
Good luck

Rottweilers are great dogs! They receive a lot of negative publicity, but really with correct care and training, rotties are fabulous pets. The real question isn't which puppy to get as much as how will your dog respond to a new animal in the home? You can get any breed of pet you are interested in as long as you are willing to work with your "current" dog to socialize and introduce the new pet to the home. And as sweet natured as most labs are, he'll probably be thrilled to have a new friend to play with.

yeah. rotty's are great dogs. Your lab is probably still pretty active, as that breed tends to not settle down until they are older dogs. Rottweilers are usually bigger dogs, but they settle down at around 2 years old, which is good because I don't think an 8 year old lab wants to be clobbered by a big fat rottweiler.

Get a Rottie from a good breeder whose animals are health and temperament tested. If the parents are good tempered, the puppy should be too. Make sure the parents are tested for hip dysplaysia, as well as heart etc.
Should be a perfect companion for a Lab.

Rotties are great dogs if you get one from a really good breeder. Make sure the breeder has temperment tested the pups and then ask a ton of questions before you pick out the one you want.
Have fun and good luck!

yep, i think, w/o so much **&%$?!!!** Cristina is right. get your ideals together woman!
Rotties are not your little "designer dog"! they require a lot more attention, socialization, training & disicipline! Yo, do your research!
Rotties are awesome dogs, they just don't submit so readily as a lab or poodle! remember that before you buy/adopt! Rotties are bullheaded!
I love our Rotie mut, she's about 13y/o, but she still thinks shes a pup, she still tries to "pull one over" ever now and then and diffinately NEVER gets left alone or unchecked.
so, i guess im tryin to say, what kind of personality are you used to? Rotties don't bow down and cower, they require mutual respect!
