Seeing brief flashes of light is completely normal. Like other organs your eyes need rest. They also sound dry, you should make sure the humidifier is on if you live in a northern climate and buy some liquid tears, the eye drops WITHOUT medication. the medications will do more harm than good in the lung run.
If you get some sleep, put the humidifier on or else boil some water in a pot with the lid off for five minutes two or three times a day and turn the stove off (don't) forget and keep your eyes moist through liquid tears the flashes will go away.
If you eyes are completely bloodshot are swollen and excessively wet for two days straight, then you should ask for a referal for an eye doctor. Ninety nine times out of 100 it will be pink eye, but it can also be a more serious eye disease.
In the meantime, turn off the computer and get some sleep.

you might not WANT to consult a specialist but i'll tell you a story that's pretty messed up. Around this time last year my vision started feeling a little off (depth perception a little messy) and when I finally closed my left eye I realized I had this huge blind spot in my right eye. I went to the ER and they didn't find anything wrong with me so I went to see an optomatrist. He dialated my pupil and discovered all these lipid deposits in the back of my eye. They did blood tests and found antibodies from a really rare bacteria that I contracted from a cat scratch. It was the kind of thing that happens to one out of however many hundred of thousands of people. I became a statistic. It was pretty scary and I'm still near blind in my right eye. Go get checked out you never know what kind of crazy thing could be wrong with you.

don't spend as much time in front of the computer. take a break for a while. instead of a specialist i would see an optometrist. the eye doctor is the way to go. it could be your muscles get sore when you focus your eyes on your computer.
