Carbon dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide...they let the sun's light in but don't let the heat escape.

Ever noticed how when you go in a greenhouse it is very hot. especially on hot days where its hot outside and SUPER HOT in the greenhouse.

This is because the glass in the greenhouse keeps the heat from the sunlight inside, and very little heat espaces.

The same thing happens with the Earth with certain gases (acting like the glass in a greenhouse) like carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour etc..

The most common greenhouse gas is water vapor. We would not want to eliminate that.

The second most is Carbon Dioxide, which you hear most commonly condemned. But that's want plants breathe. Whaddaya want to suffocate the plants for, ya hater :)

(They're called that because supposedly they help hold the heat in, like insulation. I think that's a good thing too....we could be like the moon otherwise.)

I believe they are gases that help the earth hold in it's heat,
which causes global warming

And if not for GW, that snowstorm that killed 9 people
would have been a lot worse (oooops, not politically correct)
