humans that they nailed to a cross?

Why didn't he just stay alive up there w/ no food or water if he wasn't just another mere mortal?

This Q was in response to another who was objecting to the idea that a tomb has been found, and maybe also the body of Jesus. He lived and died, that we pretty much know, but if it is proven to be the body....there goes the myth of resurrection!

It is true that Jesus died like any human would die on the cross, but He also rose again from the dead, because dead could have no hold on Him. Regardless of rumors that people periodically stir up to try to deny it, the resurrection of Jesus actually has very solid historical evidence. There are are a number of scholars who started out being athiests and decided to go and really disprove the resurrection of Jesus or try to discredit His life in some other way, have ended up becoming believers themselves (One example of this is Josh McDowell, who wrote the book "More Than a Carpenter" after his experiences). The reason? If you truly, honestly look into the facts, without already deciding before you have the facts, and if you are actually wanting to know what the truth is, you will discover that Jesus really was real, and He really did rise from the dead. Not only that, He is alive today and working in the lives of those who are truly seeking after the purpose for their lives.

Indeed. Perhaps the con-cept of crucifixion (sacrifice, slaughter) should be re-thought at Easter week notably has two Sabbaths, one of twain notably being a black Sabbath, a "high" day

about which the prophet Amos in Amos 5:18 said:
Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD,
to what end is it(the day of the LORD) for you(?),
the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
http://www.godshew.org/RevelatorySermons19.htm

and about which Paul The Apostle said:
- mind not "high" things: Rom 12:16
- be not "high"-mindead: Rom 11:20; 1Tim 6:17
- for "highminded" is among "unholy": 2Tim 3

Especially if the stated will of God is:
"I will have mercy, and not sacrifice",
and the "not" part is not then, now, ever.
(God NEVER desired sacrifice for sin)

And do the will of God PRECEDES receive the promise

Easter 07? Perhaps it's time to be either hot or cold,
for both law God and grace God do agree on one thing:
being lukewarm is not tolerable: so get hot or not hot = cold.

Here's a picture of cold, for those who'd be humpty dumpty:

Cold is the cup many x-ians will offer you, for a reward: Mt.
Is this any different than muslims being suicidal for reward?

The third day is also the seventh day is the last day.

Perhaps indecision (de-fault) goes to Law worketh Wrath.
Peace and Safety in law worketh wrath? Not in 1Thes 5:3!

It appears to me that you try to make a point here by debating the death and ressurection of Jesous Christ. This the most significant event in history, which coincidentally is the most well documented event ever.

he Christians of the early Church agreed with the Apostle Paul's statement. The Church would have come to nothing had the resurrection been discredited. Yet when the Church was experiencing growth, the Romans did not debunk the resurrection. There were certainly a plethora of hostile witnesses to the events of the Gospels, but not a single Roman came forward to expose supposed fallacies. Many Roman critics attacked the philosophy of Christianity, but they were unable to attack its historical accuracy, as they were witness to the events of the New Testament. The Church could not have grown in Jerusalem if Jesus' own generation (who had Him put to death) could have immediately exposed the resurrection as lies.

The resurrection is not a lie. Christ died. Roman soldiers were experts at execution. They plunged a spear into Christ's side, and resultant blood and water flowed through the wound. This was recorded in the gospels, however they did not understand the medical connotations as we do today. The fluid was flowing from the pericardium and Christ could not have survived.

The New Testament stands alone in historical accuracy. It is the greatest of the resurrection proofs. The gospels themselves are the most reliable historical books in existence. However there are secular sources to confirm the gospels' claims. Josephus, a prominent Jewish historian, corroborated the prophecies, miracles, and crucifixion of Jesus. Tacitus, a Roman historian, goes as far as to say, "Christus…suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilate, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judea. . .but even in Rome." (Tacitus, Annals 15.44 as quoted in Case for Christ)

Scholars assert that when Tacitus says Jesus, "checked for the moment" it indicates Jesus' death, and, "again broke out" refers to the resurrection.

The Bible also says the Earth went dark for three days. This is supported in the writings of Thallus, a mid-eastern historian, who noted the darkness, which was parallel with the time of the crucifixion. Phlegon also wrote about a great earthquake and the greatest eclipse in the 202nd Olympiad, which is the year A.D. 33.

It's a personal matter to believe in Him, His life, death and ressurection. For all His followers, however, He is the God who was incarnated into the human body and died to save our sins and to show us the way to the afterlife.

Clearly you've never read the Bible. The whole point of the Christian faith is the fact that He became flesh and died for our sins as a man. He was a man, flesh and blood. The miracle was that He lived a perfect life and was killed, and then rose again three days later. I doubt anyone else killed on the cross arose from the grave. I believe Jesus could have stopped His death, He chose not to so He could save mankind from eternal punishment for our sins.

Jesus was human and he was God. John chapter 1 "In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God." "And the word became flesh and dwelt among us". This is clearly saying as well as other times in the new testament that Jesus was fully divine and fully man. Because through one man (adam) sin entered the world, so also through one man (Jesus) sin must be defeated. Now a mortal man cannot defeat death and sin but God can. So ya see, Jesus had to be God and he had to be man. If He was just a man, he would be a sinner just like everyone
else. A sinner cannot die for the sins of the world. That is not a sacrifice. A sacrifice is somthing or someone that is innocent and is put up as a ransom in this case, for the sins of the world. Jesus had to be God because only God can live a perfect life in order to be that sacrifice for the sins of the world. Its awesome because we can relate to Jesus in many ways, although He is God, he had human emotions just like us, he cried when his friend died, he got angry, he liked to hang out with his disciples, he felt compassion for people, we have a personal God that identifies with us in many ways yet is fully Divine.

It was God's wish that Jesus should bleed and die on the cross. It was His blood that washes away believers sins. Because Jesus did this, I don't have to get a lamb or goat to sacrifice when I pray, like they did in the Old Testament.

If God had chosen it, He could have had Jesus avoid that death altogether, and just take Jesus to heaven any time he chose to. But God loved us enough, to give His son as our sacrifice for us.

I've never found where he claimed to be more than human or ask to be worshiped as devine. He did seem to tell those who followed his teachings that they could do greater things than he accomplished.Didn't Mary give him water? What this new tombs child is the mythyical grail?

I'm not sure. Sometimes I wonder if it's really, really worth it all. In all of your stunning intellect and powers of interpretation in matters pertaining to the Word, what did you ever read that led you to the assumption that Christ wasn't human? What book were you reading that I wasn't? I'm not even going to go any further with this typical, fallible, human nonsense.

He died because he was half human. He came out from the tomb 3 days later because he was half god.

This question is very interesting because it speaks to your lack of Sunday School lessons and Bible reading. Which goes back to the way you were raised.

But like any other subject, if you would like to know about something, you would have to study it.

he had a choice to make for us and he decided that because he loves us so much, that he was willing to suffer (just like humans) so that we could eventually go to heaven and be with him..... Honestly if he wanted to he could've shown everyone that he was God and that he would never die if he wanted to, but if he did that then we wouldn't be able to go to heaven and be with him there....
he did something more meraculous than that he DIED and then three days later ROSE FROM THE and showed every one that he was God..... It was just that it was in his own timing not in any body elses
