one of my friends recently started reading this book called "battle cry for my generation" by something called teenmania ministries, or something like that. now, my question is this: is it just me, or is this organization kind of cultish? doesnt it remind you of communist propaganda? isnt it strange that they "recruit" kids into this? its things like this that make me so opposed to religion...

It's just you, think of all the garbage that's written for children. It's about $$ and nothing else.

First of all, be catious as to prejudging a book by its title. I learned this from "How to Win Friends and Influence People." Learn what they are REALLY teaching in the book. Many people want to call Christianity a cult (which is completely bogus).

Secondly, a concept that has come and gone and come again as far as importance is the concept of the SPIRITUAL battle between good and evil for the minds of not only adults but of children, too. Now, I realize in today's culture people have become so pacified that they cringe everytime they are threatened with force (whether physical, psychological, or anything else). They are unwilling to accept the fact that evil exists and it wishes to destroy them (whether bodily or spiritually) so they "stick their head in the sand" and tell themselves everything will be alright. So instead of being couragous and taking the fight to destroy evil, they let evil gain the upper-hand.

This is what you are doing I believe. You read the term "battle-cry" and immediately think the author is trying to recruit kids for military operations. Actually, it is more a SPIRITUAL battle cry to address evil in our society and to influence people to take a stand to save the Christian moral values this country was founded on.

Oi. Don't compare evangelical Christianity to Communism; Communism isn't always evil.
