again i see the sleep paralysis question is still getting the " it was demons " answers
even when i give a description and a link to sleep paralysis
this link even tells you about incubus through hynagogic imagery
http://watarts.uwaterloo.ca/~acheyne/incubus.html
why do people wish to ignore something that is simply a medical condition , for the belief of something more supernatural and frightening ?

I am not here to quote against you, rather to point to where the idea comes from:

Ephesians 6:12

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

for the belief of something more supernatural and frightening?

Sleep paralysis is not the only cause for the phenomena that some attribute to demons. You are being rather simplisti, similarly to if you were to say that heart pains are actually indigestion (which in SOME cases they are)

As to the question: I have yet to meet people who believed they were demon-possessed who were happy. But in the Far East many who believed they had been liberated from demons who were gloriously happy What matters, if people believe in demons, is not simply THAT they believe but WHAT they believe.

You seem equally happy to attribute things to a 'simple' medical condition (which may or may not be so) as those who believe it is not a medical condition (which, equally, may or may not be so)

People of a gullible mind-set can be conditioned to believe anything. This simple medical fact has given rise to all manner of absurd belief systems, many of which are displayed on these boards. Where they are an integral part of religious indoctrination, belief in Demons is commonly found alongside other irrational supernatural mythology, Angels, Cherubims, and other members of that belief systems pantheon. Without proof of existence, belief in Demons can only suggest mental delusion, or illness. One very good reason to keep your children far away from these disturbed psychotics.

It is an assumption on your part that all of these instances are sleep paralysis. You don't know that some of them aren't caused by supernatural agents. Secondly, not all people base what they believe on what makes them happy. Most religions involved some type of search for a greater truth. Not one that I have ever seen stressed finding beliefs that make you happy. But why should it matter to you what people choose to believe?

Demons are the easiest and quickest conclusion to draw without researching a problem. It's much easier to neglect problems if the source of every problem was a supernatural evil. The solution then would always be "to adhere to an occultic or esoteric principle that may or may not have practical implications."

Every hero needs a foe, from whom he can save the world. If a story is created with a hero but no enemy to ward off, the hero's purpose would be obsolete. If a bad guy is created then we have an epic of good vs. evil that can determine principles for us.

I'm not going to claim that it is in fact a demon, but I will say that the spiritual world is much like the physical world.

You get hurtful people and you get nice people. Some people are hurtful to certain people but nice to others, same with spirits. It all depends on how you treat them and who you invite into your house is up to you, but in some neighbourhoods you have to lock your door at night and in some neighbourhoods you have to deal with prejudice and discrimination.

You have to choose a house and neighbourhood where you feel safe and welcome, this might depend on culture and personality.

I have had little experience with people that truely believe in demons, but from what I have read, I don't believe they are happier at all, I think they live a very confused life.

I also agree with you that is most likely a medical condition, mental or physical.

It fits into their beliefs. Also, sleep paralysis isn't known to many people presicely because people suffering from it don't seek treatment but ascribe it to the supernatural.
