I would suggest you consider what God's role is....and what things are possible. Because we pray or do what we feel is penance for something, does that mean it is God's responsibility to do our job for us? Also is a prayer a request for help and spiritual guidance, or for God to then take responsibility for our lives and live them for us? Is God a clerk who takes our order and fills it if we pray??? I certainly don't think so.

I answered this although I am not Christian but am VERY spiritual, definately an adult, and I think I have a good grasp of what you are asking. And I am not going to give any reply that would go against Christian beliefs (but I did want to be straight with you).

I think the key to the problem here is when you say "God never does what I ask." Seriously I would suggest thinking about this, praying if you wish and if you have a priest or spiritual leader maybe getting their input. My belief is that God is not here to serve us...we serve him! I don't believe that God gets involved in stuff that he gave us free will to handle. And I don't think that all things that go wrong are punishments. They are simply the result of choices we made with that gift of free will.

I think it takes more than prayer to make something work. For example did you find a hairdresser who you saw does really good haircuts? Did you show them what you want and were you clear on it?

I think God is involved in the far bigger picture. For example do you remember after Sept 11th when all our leaders seemed to rise far better than they ever had been, when they knew what to say, do, how to help etc. The fact that 2 planes hit those buildings and thousands survived to me is a miracle (and I lost 2 friends that day, so it wasn't a miracle for all).

Which brings me to my last point....just because we ask does not mean the answer we are entitled to is yes. Sometimes it isn't in our best interest. What if you need to learn a lesson but God does it for you. Is that helping you? Today yes, for the rest of your life no. And I also believe there is a bigger picture we don't fully understand. Mostly God is not a request service, and prayers to me are not meant as a means to get what we want on trivial matters.

God gave you the tools to take care of some things yourself. I think using that gift and the fact you have that is an answer to a prayer. I don't believe God is trivial and does tit for tat....a nasty word equals a bad haircut. Oh geez...I hope we have a supreme being dealing with far more important issues on a global scope.

I hope you will think about all of this, maybe talk it through with someone. When you pray for someone you love to survive an illness and they pull through that to me is an answered prayer. And even if they don't, as I said, sometimes life/fate/our path is not what we stomp our feet and want...but rather what we need. Faith is believing that, and I have deep faith in that.

Hope this helps some, and you will at least think about it.

Well, the Bible also states that discipline shows that you care about your child. God still loves you, but He also needs you to learn that there are consequences to actions, which is your mother's duty to teach you. The punishment seems a little severe though, but then again, I don't know if this was a first attempt or a last straw. You need to also ask your mom to forgive you for lying. You need to thank God even when you're upset over something like this, because I promise you, you will think twice the next time. And you need to forgive your mom for punishing you. It's hard, believe me, you won't believe some of the things that have happened to me in my life that I'm trying to learn to forgive. God does love you, and sometimes, we need to thank him for even prayers that aren't granted. For example: if you keep deceiving your mom, then what path will you end up on? Have you thought maybe this is God's way of protecting you, of helping you to learn from a mistake before many more are made?

God Bless You, and remember, He loves you no matter what you might think.

Your anger clouds your thinking... you do not give enough detail to give you proper response... but I am concerned with the "punishment" you mention... you do not say what you lied about... and you should not lie... but that sounds worrisome to me that that would be done to you... also, it is not unusual to get "mad" at God... he is tough and can take it... when you calm down He will be there and will have already forgiven you... I am near 60 but not sure even that qualifies me as an adult in The Faith as I have only been of The Faith for 7 yrs... but if you have some question concerning the basics of The True Christian Faith I would be glad to respond as best I can... One honest question will receive one honest answer and no spam... I just do not have time for spam

when you are angry it dose tend to separate you from God a bit... not God from you but you from God... so your prayers will be affected for sure... it happens to me all the time... I am very weak in the praying business and have to struggle all the time to keep my self up and open to God....good thing God is so patient... I must really try his patients

Hi there-I know how you feel because yes of course all things are possible with God. Then why does He not answer all of our prayers? I guess it is for our protection-many times we ask out of our own greed instead of in the will of God. Also God is not one to be told or do what you ask, He is God and He knows what is best.
I have been through a time lately where it seems none of my prayers are answered-a time of silence from God but I know that if I ask forgiveness in the name of Jesus then I am forgiven. You are not punishing God by cutting your hair - He loves you anyway - you are punishing yourself.
No one knows why God does what God does He does what He will.
Read Job! He and his 3 mates thought they had all the answers but in the end it was only God who knew everything.
Just relax and let him love you and continue to read the Bible. Trust that He has your best interest at heart and if you don't get what you pray for then maybe it is for your own good.
None of us are perfect that is why Jesus came. We can't earn anything Jesus has done it all. He did it for you and for us all.
It is finished so accept that and trust God for the best outcome.

Honey, the LORD will only answer prayers that are in-line with HIS WILL. Now I know that seems like it makes no sense, but its the truth. The bible also tells us that if we seek GOD 1st in ALL things and live a LIFE of daily seeking Him by the reading of the Word of GOD, and thru prayer, the fellowship we have in church with other believers and just worshiping HIM as the very utmost top priority of your life.
The god you speak of; to say that you seem to believe that the LORD holds ANY responsibility to your hair getting cut~ is NOT the GOD of Christianity. God does not "punish" us; but HE does correct us---there is a big difference that you need to study in the scriptures for yourself. Jesus DIED for the forgiveness of ALL sin.
You are right in sticking to the FACT that our prayers ARE NOT useless....HE hears every plea, HE cares about the smallest details of our lives. But if we live like sin, and expect holiness to be the fruit that is cultivated from those bad decisions;we are badly mistaken. HE will take nothing but our very best.
Keep on "praying without ceasing" and seek to live with HIS WILL in mind, and not your own.
In Christ,
^7^

With my God, all things are possible.. I don't know which God you are talking about... yours or mine. Perhaps if you had spent that time begging forgiveness from your mom or even offering to do some chores for her if she would forgive you and not cut your hair.. well maybe it would not be so chilly around your ears right now. but your mom knows you too.. so maybe she did the right punishment. I don't know the whole story.. lol...

God did forgive you. what does that have to do with your mom forgiving you. God cannot affect free will, so as far as ur mom cuttin the hair, thats he fault not yours.

its important to remember that God answers prayers in his time, not yours. sometimes its hard to realize that everything is under controll, and its on Gods terms, and Gods times why thigns happen. but remember, God has forgiven you. ur moms a different story.

hope this helped.

Something that strikes me is that you are wanting God to do what you ask Him to do. This sound more like Santa Claus then God. I would challenge you to ask Him what He wants you to do instead.
Think of God like a Father. A true Father wants to see His kids mature and become responsible adults. By learning to ask Him what you need you will start to see that He is ready to do anything you ask of Him because you want what He wants.
What's great about God is that He is so willing to teach those that are ready to learn.
God Bless!

marvelous attempt, yet this recent attempt to discredit the Bible isn't any much less ridiculous than previous ones. Judges a million:19 for sure says that it replaced into Judah, no longer God, who could desire to no longer stress out the inhabitants of the valley. examine the recent American Bible version of the comparable verse, and you will see that for sure. ...

Sis, sometimes we go thru the fire as Christians (and to ourselves may wonder why), but God is burning (via the fire) the bad stuff from us in the process!
