I'm not sure in the whole world but in the U.k I would guess Paracetamol, it's a drug that is so widely avaiable and affordable and taken for all types of chronic pains. Also paracetamol is used within any other drug medications-cough medicines etc
Quite ironic that it's so widely available and yet is also one of the most dangerous things to overdose on.

Well..you wasn't really being specific.
Did you mean PRESCRIBED drugs or illegal STREET drugs?
I'm a pharmacy technician, and I have to keep up with the top 200 prescribed drugs in the U.S. And the #1 prescribed drug in the U.S. for the past several years has been VICODIN.
As for street drugs...according to statistics, MARIJUANA is the most commonly used.
