no, its a sin to break spaghetti noodles in half. Break them in front of an Italian and see what happens.

I break mine in half, primarily because I don't like to have to do the twirl thing, and/or use both hands.
I also mostly have my spaghetti pasta with a fair amount of sauce, and I want to get a lot of sauce with every bite of noodles, which is harder to do if the noodles are long.
If I were fixing many tradiitonal Italian spaghetti dishes though (which focus less on a chunky sauce than on a flavoring of olive oil, salt, and perhaps garlic, on the pasta, along with just a few bits of veggies or meat in it), then I might leave it unbroken and do the twirl thing so I could enjoy the *mouthful of pasta* more.

It depends, for the most part I try not to break it, and if it doesn't fit in the pot, then i let half of it soak and boil down so I can push the other half in once it becomes more soft and pliable. If I am in a hurry, I usually split it down the center and then let it boil up.

Yep, my family breaks it in half. I think the spaghetti noodles are too long to cook evenly if you don't break them.

no, if you eat it properly with a fork and spoon and you curl it around the fork you get just the right amount. That and when you put it in the pot you hold it all together and place in middle and let go. it spreds like a fan and less noodles stick together. It is kinda hard to do this with shorties.

It depends on the type of spaghetti, being it is angel hair, linguine, or thick spaghetti , also depends on the dish you are making, so it is your choice.

I do. It cooks better and it's easier and less messy to eat. I just break them in half.

When cooking for myself, yes, but only because the pot I cook it in is so small. When cooking in a large pot for a crowd, no.
