I always thought that it was supposed to be stored in a refrigerator or freezer to keep it fresh, but according to the instructions on the package of Dunkin' Donuts, it should "never" be stored in a frig or freezer.

Being a former chef and coffee drinker, the jury is out in the freezer and not , I like to buy mine in the whole bean form, it does not go stale and is fuller bodied when brewed, most stores sell the gourmet or regular brands in a whole bean format, and WalMart, Target and other department stores sell small or good size coffee grinders for under $30 dollars, this is the best way, most coffee shops, doughnut stores and some restaurants have a grinder that grinds each pot one at a time with a pre-determined amount for each pot, and these places are the one's than sell it in volume.

A home grinder will make it just as good and the beans keep there flavour longer this way, just don't grind flavoured beans in the same grinder, the flavourings and oils they use will never leave and then every other pot will have that certain taste.

the easy technique of procuring for and storing coffee beans is following: a million- do no longer purchase coffee beans in parts extra advantageous than what may be utilized in 6 weeks. 2- as a results of fact the bag is opened, divide the contents into 4 or six parts. place them in zip lock luggage. Squeeze the air out and pull the zip lock close. that's the main inexpensive and helpful technique to seal the beans immediatly after eliminating the beans from the roaster packed bag. 3- do no longer fill the bean hopper with beans in simple terms as a results of fact that's sufficiently huge to accomodate the contents of total bag of beans. 4- Open one zip lock bag at a time. the different luggage will nonetheless have the freshness preserved until the time of use. 5- do no longer refrigerate or freeze the beans. it is not a perishable merchandise and actually no longer fish or seafood. the purpose of perfect sealed storage of roasted beans is to maintain secure from touch with air and moisture. Roasted beans are thirsty as each and all of the moisture has been taken out. those dry beans will take up moisture quickly. Moisture and air will enable Oxygen to convey chemical alterations to create rancid smelling alternates that should no longer substitute into area of coffee extract. i'm hoping this delivers a solid thought of the suitable technique for storage of coffee beans.

It depends on if it's instant coffee or coffee beans. It's typically best to keep it stored in the pantry in an air tight concealed jar or something of the sort. Keeping it in the fridge would be okay for ground coffee beans, but only if it is going to be a while before you think you are going to finish the supply. It's best to keep coffee at room temp.

STORE YOUR DAILY COFFEE...

It is important not to refrigerate or freeze your daily supply of coffee because contact with moisture will cause it to deteriorate. Instead, store coffee in air-tight glass or ceramic containers and keep it in a convenient, but dark and cool, location. Remember that a cabinet near the oven is often too warm, as is a cabinet on an outside wall of your kitchen if it receives heat from a strong afternoon or summer sun.

The commercial coffee containers that you purchased your coffee in are generally not appropriate for long-term storage. Appropriate coffee storage canisters with an airtight seal are a worthwhile investment.

Covered tightly and in a cool, dry place, preferably where no sunlight hits it if it is in a clear container.
Too cold in the fridge or freezer, it starts to break down and won't stay fresh as long plus it gets moisture in it.

And if Roor is going to copy and paste information for answers she needs to site her source other wise she is just a stealer!

Don't understand the why not in freezer, coffee doesn't freeze wheter be it beans or ground it remains in it,s original format for ever in freezer remains fresh and to my knowledge it doesn't affect the taste since most coffee ( grounded or not ) comes in a foil bag!

I keep mine in an air tight container in the freezer. May be an "old wives tale", but it seems to work.

i agree with davidh. the best container is the bean itself. leave it in the original container and grind it as you use it.
