A dozen is enough for more than one person, it is easily divided into two groups of six or three groups of four or four groups of three. It is the number of ways in which 12 can be evenly divided that makes it important (!).
Me, I prefer a baker's dozen.

Not important, and has no meaning at all. A dozen was decided to be twelve. I'm sure there was no thought to disciples when a dozen was set at twelve. Far more than eggs are counted by the dozen.
The year had ten months until one was added for Julius Caesar, and another for Augustus. Tiberius refused to have a month named after him, or we would have had more and more.
A person looking for numbers to support his beliefs can find hundreds of possibilities. Superstition is a powerful force.

Certainly near inumerable other things come in dozens too! They are called numbers and we used them to measure things beginning at 0. The further you get from that number, chances are good, the less often you will see the number! All day people that have the correct change or barely make a deadline seem to think it's a sure sign of a savior. Man is his own best dupe.

The twelve (dirty dozen) were allegorically a hung jury.

Said jury could never agree on anything.
There's never any consesus among the carnal.

Judas notably "also" betrayed him.
Peter did it thrice, and even twice.
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
Two notably wanted to be left & right of law law on high.
Even being right of such law law is still law(sin & death).
Higher than the heavens is neither of 2 heavens on high.
These (law law) twins moved "the ten" to "indignation".
The old 12 were notably upbraided for "their" unbelief.
The new 12 were obviously still leavened by law law.
("Grace" is neither of two "law"s in Matthew 22:36-40)

So God chose Saul to become Paul: "The Apostle":
whose prophetic title is: "his witness unto all men".

The Pauline Epistles include Hebrews and Revelation

All '15' of the Pauline Epistles play the "last trump" it:

~~~ Mayor,,,, The Symbolism in ALL mythologies to the Number 12 is a Direct Reference to the 12 Constellations or Houses of The Zodiac, either in Chinese, Hindu or Western Astrology. This is also represented in the allegory of 12 Knights of The Round Table (the zodiacal wheel and cycle of birth/rebirth), The Trials and Tribulations or Challenges of Buddha, Krishna and Christ,,,You will find this correlation consistent in other Pantheist Motifs. etc, etc, Therefore, It is very important,,,but only if one understands The Meaning behind The Symbol !
Actually, while, there were 13 apostles after Judas was replaced, they replaced Judas so the number would be 12 again. So obviously, the number is important. 12 is perfect, actually representing divine prefection of government. There's also 12 tribes of Israel, BTW. Also:
3 is the number of Divine perfection.
7 is the number of Spiritual perfection.
10 is the number of Ordinal perfection.
12 is the number of Governmental perfection.
Everything ties together somehow. You know why most think 13 is a bad luck number? For its actually not, its a number you shouldn't use, count the disciples...then realize what no. Jesus was. Today many take it as bad luck, but its just a number that shouldn't be used out of respect, not fear.
When you study the book of revelations, and try to understand the symbolical meaning of the number 12, you can easily come to the conclusion that the symbolical meaning of 12 in the book of Revelation is a divinely constituted organization either in the heavens or on the earth.
Feel free to e-mail me, if you would like the verses from Revelation that I used.
Yes. Now I just need a way to link these numbers to 9/11, the Knights Templar and Mary Magladene, and I'll have a bestseller on my hands.
Well, Jesus and his disciples makes 13....some would call that a coven. There are also 13 full moons in a year and women have 13 menstrual cycles. I would call that important.
