Can it work?
The only ones that can answer that is the couple.
Can they work together in spite of racism to build a happy life together?
Or is it too much for them to deal with so they wimp out?
Look around, there are interracial marriages everywhere.
Just not as many between black women and white men.
If gay marriages are applauded by a huge sect of America, I see no reason a black / white marriage would be a big deal.
You mention opression, predjudice and segregation, but you also say the key word, history.
History is the past, and though we learn from it, it doesn't determine our future.
If this couple are in love, and willing to take on the upcoming challenges together, relying on each other, definately it can work.
That not only goes for interracial marriages, but all marriages.

Yes. If you look at the couple that changed the interracial marriage law in the first place, they were a white man and a black woman and they're still together today. You know that blatant racism and discrimination was worse back then but they made it. I think that it depends on the individuals and the background that they come from. I have more in common with some of my white classmates than I do with black men who live in my neighborhood in terms of beliefs and values. Also it depends on 1)how the family will accept the partner of the other race,2) how important the family's opinion is to the person and 3) whether the couple is sincerely together because of who the other is inside and not the excitement of what the other looks like. Again the answer to your question is YES.

Yes I have dated and have been engaged to an older white man. At the time we were living in an prodomidematly upper white community. Sometimes I would get stares because we were interractial, or our age diffrence or his disability because he had cererabral palsy (choose one) but I just ignored it. And sometimes my beau at the time would get men approaching him by other men telling him how did he get such a beautiful, fine black woman on his side. I think that white guys are attracted to black woman and want to experience that but are too ashamed and scared of harrassment and biaseness.

certain I knew that White adult men and Black women are frequently in contact in one yet another. Its merely the media that sterotypes Black/White Interracial relationships via declaring that the merely time they take position is even as its between Black adult men and White women people yet i have continually time-honored its got here about any incorrect way round aswel.

yes, love transcends all boundries: race, ethnicity, religion, gender, age (as long as both are adults)
As for the second uestion, can it work, yes it can, but you are going to have to be able to shrug off the unacceptance from ignorant people. With some thick skin, you should be fine.

hell yea! im a black gurl and i date plenty of white and black guys, theres no problem with it at all! personally i dont see people for their colour, i just see them for who they are, sometime we are so relaxed together we completely forget tht we are of a different race, thts what caring about someone is really about. And people who have a problem with different races dating are still yet to discover themselves.

Sure it can work out. But you have to know that difficulties you would be facing before you get into a serious relationship.
