Rev...because you and I have a good and healthy image of God...we do not see Him as bad...we see Him as wonderful.

God doesn't even exist to be bad, or be anything else.

My dog wanted to go for a walk today. Did God give him that desire? A man killed another man today. Did God give him that desire? If you want to say that God gives us our desires, be prepared to attribute ALL human desires to God.

I think it's far more likely that human desires are just that - human - and the product of our brains, not an imaginary deity.

I don't think anyone assumes god is bad. Many are simply disgusted at the way god is portrayed in the abrahamic scriptures of Judaism, Islam and Christianity. Those books give god a bad rap and make him seem less compassionate and moral than mere humans. God is not bad, men are bad and pretend that it's okay by pretending god is bad too.

I don't assume that god is bad - though some of the stories in the Old Testament don't make him look like a very nice guy.

As far as where we got those desires - We got them as part of our human nature thanks to evolution.

It's the same place that we got the desires to kill, steal, lie, cheat and all that jazz.

While I do not believe in God, I consider the god of Abraham (the one in the Bible) to have some of the worst human qualities.

Take for example the second commandment:
IF you worship a graven image, God will not only punish you, but your children, grand children, and great grandchildren as well.

Sounds like a real jerk to me.

I naturally enjoy these things. A dog naturally enjoys rolling in the grass.

Why can't they occur naturally in all living things, rather than an invisible Sky Pixie programming small pleasures into each being?

Because Satan and God exist on the same plain, conversing as neighbors would, and that is wrong!Read Job and see where you fit in!
