Without your medication you will developed severe hypothyroidism and putting you life at risk. You are putting yourself at risk of a coma and death.

Myxedema coma is a loss of brain function as a result of severe, longstanding hypothyroidism (a condition in which too little thyroid hormone is produced). Myxedema coma is considered a life-threatening complication of hypothyroidism and represents the far more serious side of the spectrum of thyroid disease.

The drug is very inexpensive and cost should be less than $20. You need to find a Dr. that you can afford and who will give you scripts without seeing you often.

Usually they only remove your thyroid for cancer or for hyperthyroidism, though either way it makes you hypothyroid. It's very important you take thyroid meds, especially if you do not have your thyroid gland. Thyroid meds are relatively cheap. In fact, you can probably buy the generic at Walmart real cheap. I blieve its $4.00 for a months supply. Just call up your doctor's office and ask for a 6 months supply. Tell them you will come in as soon as you get health insurance again. Chances are your doctor will be understanding. Another option is to sign up for your states health program where you will be assigned a doctor and pay nothing or on a sliding scale.

Are you sure you are not talking of Hyperthyroidism.? Whatever the cause, you need your medication, and it should be taken for life. Talk with your health care provider and see if the medicine you need can be provided by the Manufacturer either at a lower cost, or free. It is not a good idea to go without it. Therefore see your Doctor ASAP or Go the ER and ask for help there.
