If I were you, I will extract the disk of the old computer and plug into the new one. It will appear as a unit "D" and then you can start copying all the items from one disk to another.
This way have the advantages that nothing happens if you forget something the first time.
Other way is to make a copy of the most revelant disk folders: My Documents and directories that could have data. Pay special attention to some photograph browsing software such as adobe "My Album" who stores data in "Program Files" instead of "My Documents".
Items that can't be forgotten:
* Email address of email software.
* Internet Favorites: they are under the "My Favorites" folder for Internet Explorer, for mozilla the can be exported and inported.
* Temporal files: some people thave a hunk of data there.
More things: it is a good thing to keep the old data some time just for the case you forgot something. If you can't because you are selling your old computer, think on doing a complete backup of your disk prior to formatting it.
And good luck. In my experience, there haven't been a moving of computer without trauma. I'm very conservative because of the experience.

Depends on the number of files...
If it's just a few of them, a flash drive or even floppy may work fine. You could also chose to email them to yourself and then retrieve them on the new computer.
For larger amounts, you could burn a CD with the information and then load it up on the new computer.
If they're both on the network, you could share the drive on the old one and retrieve the files on the new one. Or, in XP you could use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard (Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools> )

in case your previous workstation ran homestead windows xp and your new one runs homestead windows vista you should use homestead windows straight forward move outfitted into vista lower than commence->courses->upload-ons->gadget approaches. The fastest way is via immediately connecting a cable between both computers it truly is quite made for the technique, or you may move via disc/usb. you may opt for what documents you opt for to move such as files, favorites, consumer money owed, digital mail contacts and that is an straight forward step via step procedure. although you may want to set up some courses back even though it ought to help you to eliminate distinct the junk from you previous pc.
